Hi everyone. I was just wondering why soooo many people say peds is not a competitive residency. I mean, does that mean be your grades just passing or middle of the road, you'l match anyway? Please someone enlighten me. Thanks.

Peds is not competitive in the fact that if you're willing to go anywhere, you'll get a spot somewhere in the country (unlike radiology, ENT, etc.). On the other hand, the better the program the more competitive it is to get in. So academic programs, programs in desirable locations, top programs, etc. are competitive in a sense.
