Why most OMFS program require domestically trained

Hello, I found that most of OMFS program in US require US/Canada dental degree in the PASS website. Anyone has the idea what is the reason for this requrement? Is it because of hospital regulation or to screen the applicants, or etc.

Maybe it's because North American doctors are better trained.

Also because foreign trained likely means not US citizen or permanent resident. And GME doesn't like to provide funds for positions for non citizens. So in that way yes this is a screening measure.

Funding. Most hospital based residencies funded by the Gov. Hard for foreigners to get US spots.
