I was wondering something and could not find the answer to what I was thinking.
After completing residency training and after becoming board certified, how often does it happen to work in a different state from where I was trained?
And how does that apply to FMG and their visas?
(MS4 here of a 6-year med graduation abroad)

After you complete residency you will be board eligible, you'll likely start working and then take the oral boards. As far as how often people work in other states than they've trained, probably pretty often. I can drive an hour and hit 5 states so I'm licensed in 3 of them. You can start applying for a full license after your intern year I believe and certainly as a resident. If you anticipate that your FMG status will slow down that process I would recommend starting early if you have some idea of where you'd like to go. Also if you do FCVS my only advice is to start early.

I still have to learn about FCVS, but I suppose I have a lot of time to understand how it works. Thank you!
