Thanks for posting that. I have the print copy and it stops somewhere in the 40s. I'm surprised NYU is even on there still, considering that they have stopped accepting people. I guess they are just waiting for God, so to speak.

These lists are always fun to look at, but I notice that my list of schools has very little to do with their ranking. Rankings help me to put schools into perspective, but the most important thing is your match with a program. If you don't like where you are, the research, or the people, then you are wasting your time. Good fit is more important than brand name.

I agree! I have a couple schools I am applying to in the top 5, but last year 2 of them weren't there and I wasn't even looking at rankings when I made my list of schools. I also have some schools that are darn near the bottom. C'est la vie 🙂

Well the US News list is very helpful to me. It is a good indication of where not to apply. At least their top ten for the most part. First oof, because they are usually too research oriented for my taste and second all off the people applying who think it is a good idea use it will end up making it harder for everyone to get in. I guarantee that the list inflates the number of applicants at the higher ranked schools.

Only good thing is that for people who looked at previous lists (like the socialpsychology.org rankings) it is too late for them to change their minds.....several top 10 schools on this list are ranked way lower on that other list, and have deadlines that have already past.

Several of them I am applying to, and surprisingly many only have around 150-200 applicants. Some of the 10-20 ranked schools are the ones that seem harder to get into.

Who knows...it's all out of my hands now 🙂

Out of curiosity, any counseling psychology rankings?

Where are the Canadian schools? University of Waterloo is usually #1 or 2.

These rankings appear odd. I wouldn't take them too seriously. It is more important to assess who you would be working with in a given program and what resources the program offers within what you want to do.

I agree, what are these rankings even based on?? And NYU's program was discredited in 2000, no? That should not still be on there.

NYU should still have a Psy.D. program.

McGill and UBC have quite a reputation as well...
