Sorry guys, seems like a newbish question =(

I hear the term MSAR all the time.. is it just a book (and is it worth buying?)
Is there some online listing of MSAR MCAT scores?

In my opinion, it's worth looking at, but definitely not worth buying. Most universities have a current or recently outdated copy in the career center library.

MSAR is very useful. That's how I select schools to apply to. The MCAT scores in MSAR are usually higher than the actual MCAT scores on the school's website. That's because medical schools must submit the statistics to AAMC by March 15th every year. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

i found the msar to be very useful when decicing waht schols to apply to. Personally, i thoguht the median mcat, and the instate/out of state ratios were really useful. You can get it from amazon for 25 bucks with free shipping. well worth it imho

There are discrepancies between the numbers because some are not updated to be 2007-2008. Also the numbers might be those who were accepted or those who matriculated. In that case, accepted is usually higher, if I'm not mistaken.

The newest MSAR says the school medians are:
11 B
10 V
10 P
P

Hope that helps.

ACCEPTED (in MSAR) not Matriculated
Sometimes we see a upward shift in accepted numbers because schools accept the applicants that get the 40 4.0's but it is unlikely that those students will go there. So the accepted numbers get shifted, while the true matriculate numbers regress back down to a smaller number (usually about a point).
