just a quick question about how warfarin can produce hypercoag.
it reduces protein C and factor 7 first, therefore the extrinsic pathway wont work. So does the hypercoag. state occur because you decrease protein C and therefore cant inhibit protein 5 and 8?
 
Yes, of all the things effected: protein C/S factor 7 etc, C/S have the shortest half-life and their function is thus lost first.

So anticoag factors (C/S) are lost, BEFORE coag factors.

Thus early on can't inhibit 5 and 8 --> Hypercoag
