This is still theoretical since I haven’t been accepted to LIU, just an interview. However I’m not sure what to do should I have to choose.

I do have family in Long Island NY, but it’s super expensive to live there. Then again Ross is expensive too. I’m an older student (29) and will be 30 come fall, Ross seems like it might have more people in my age bracket but I could be wrong. Not to mention the pros/cons of going to a school with no graduating class yet. Thoughts?

If LIU never gains full accreditation for whatever reason (far fetched with how lose AVMA has become with accreditation at this point), you'll still be a valid, viable veterinarian as long as you pass the NAVLE. There is no risk to you as a student attending from that perspective.

Make an excel sheet with the total cost of attendance per year for both schools. The website or financial aid office has to give you that info.

Keep in mind the island schools in general have a higher attrition rate compared to the US schools (though the attrition rate is hard to find at a lot of places; more anecdotal than anything else). But more people repeat or fail out from island schools than elsewhere. That will add to the cost and strongly affects you emotionally.

I agree with Battie. Additionally, Ross I believe operates on a trimester system and between each semester there is only a 2-3 wk break. It may seem like a minor detail but it somewhat scared me when applying that it wasn't enough of a break and that I would get burnt out faster with the speed of the curriculum/not enough time to decompress.

It looks like LIU would be more expensive beciasue of high COL in Long Island and the off site clinical year. Any feedback? I’ve been waitlisted at LIU. I would love to stay in the US but it may mean more debt.
