Where did all of the OG pharmacy members go?

Started by bluc
This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Slowly phased into early retirement, other industries (real estate), more passive lifestyles?
Retail/community is definitely on the decline (definitely a transition state with class sizes on the decline) & seems like more of the OGs have moved into more niche, remote roles

Covid burnout has definitely been an inspiration for many of us to obsess less over work and enjoy life more

We had that one Google/Apple/META/Tesla/NVIDIA CS pharmacist dude (I'm assuming it was a dude due to the amount of testosterone that I could smell across the screen) who turned this forum into a CS JO circle until he got banned. I'm sure he drove some people away
I remember million trillion billion TC bro dude lol

I'm part of the original generation, and most of that group has found better things now. I was here before the Pharmacy forum was built, and most of the very old ones use this as a private discussion board. I do miss some members though, but I mostly use the Board for those private discussions even now.

Just been mostly lurking not much of a poster here. More active on reddit and yeah just been dissociating myself away from work and trying to enjoy life.

Curious, what's the name of the reddit pharmacy platform? Or what the kids call it, subreddit?

I did most of my posting in 2004-2008 when pharmacy admission was very competitive and when we didn't have a 'like button'. It wasn't unusual for applications to apply 2-3 years before they get one admission offer and a lot of students went out of state. It was great resource to learn about the application process and the interview process. I think I also learned the process to being a pharmacy technician and get volunteering experience from this forum.

This board was once filled with colorful posters. I even recall one of the founding assistant dean of Chapman, Lawrence Brown, came here to defend the need for more pharmacy school due to emerging shortage of MTM pharmacists that will be the future of pharmacy profession. Unfortunately, i believe he erased the vast majority of his posts.

I think there was someone from Larkin who came to post on this forum too. These posts aged well if they’re still there

I'm not an OG, but I stopped participating in large part because I couldn't so much as sneeze without gynny or whatever that admin's name was trying to chastise me

I was here when this wasn't a money making scheme with Reddit type censors. I was here when this wasn't even a forum. It was merely a posting site for medical school interview experiences.
It was amazing, totally kid-driven. That's why it ballooned. Around 2008, the censoring started and a slow decline took place.

I haven't been in here for awhile. I just cheked and I have been a member over 20 years. Good lord where does the time go? I was a new grad not even licensed pharmacist when I first joined....
WB Mountain! I remember you were big on independent pharmacy.

How will this war end? Will ukraine take back its territories?
Maybe, maybe not. It's going to be a stalemate like it has the last 3 years until NATO actually jumps in like they should have when it started or Russia collapses. Either could happen. One thing I do know is that Ukraine won't stop defending. So as long as Putin's dumb ass wants to kill off his own people, they will continue to die. At some points along the front like Russia is losing people at a 25-to-1 ratio in their wave attacks. Russia is never actually going to conquer Ukraine, that we do know. At least not any time in the near, medium, or far future.

It's really just madness right now. They are out of tanks, basically. It's just dudes bum-rushing the front line and Ukraine sending swarms of endless drones to intercept them over and over. Russia gains the equivalent of like a city block here and there, but at the cost of entire platoons and companies. Nothing significant has happened in years other than the Kursk incursion. Russia has already lost their initial goal, regime change in Ukraine. They also lost like half of what they got initially. They've gained land, but it hasn't been worth anything close to what they've lost. Any "victory" they will claim will quite literally be among the most Pyrrhic in the history of warfare.

Do you believe this? The British press also said in 2022 Putin is dying from cancer and Russians have to use shovels because they ran out of ammunition. I guess those shovels are pretty powerful. Remember ghost of Kiev? Remember how you were told the F16 would change the trajectory of the war? Storm shadow? HIMARS? None of it turned out to be a miracle weapon.

If Ukraine is doing serious damage then why is Ukraine demanding a ceasefire? Usually the losing side seeks a ceasefire.

NATO is nothing without the US. US won’t get involved militarily. It is not even funding the Ukraine war anymore. Europe is solely funding the war. Ukraine is on its own.

Do you believe this?
In some locations, absolutely. The Ukranians are dug in and Russia is sending people without any support into pre-sighted areas with little cover. Ukrainian drone operators just waiting. It's insanity what they are doing.

I don't believe anything about his medical condition. Nobody knows but Putin and his physicians. They were running out of ammo in certain locations at various points in the war and were using shovels because they were encircled. That happens in these sorts of wars.

Remember ghost of Kiev? Remember how you were told the F16 would change the trajectory of the war? Storm shadow? HIMARS? None of it turned out to be a miracle weapon.
WTF are you talking about. They were incredibly important. They greatly reduced Russian air superiority to almost nothing. It's now a drone and meat wave war based on trench warfare.

If Ukraine is doing serious damage then why is Ukraine demanding a ceasefire? Usually the losing side seeks a ceasefire.

They've wanted a ceasefire since the beginning. They are the ones being invaded.

And they are doing damage ever since the Starlinks went out. This is just factual information you can look up.

NATO is nothing without the US.
Europe still has a very good military without the US. UK, France, Germany, Poland are nothing to laugh at. If they wanted to go all in total war, they would defeat a depleted Russian military rather easily. It's more of a question of political will. Nobody wants to send their citizens to die.

Europe is solely funding the war. Ukraine is on its own.

This sentence doesn't even make sense. And the US is still sending arms and missiles. Like it's just factual information you can google. They should do more, though.

This is us right now

Believe whatever you want, dude. I'm not going to argue with you. Reply again if you want, you can have the last post.

You were so gung ho and certain of an Ukraine victory. That is now off the table. Russia is currently controlling 20% of Ukraine territory. Ukraine has pretty much agreed to give up land for a peace deal.

Why hasn’t Russia accepted the deal especially if they are “losing 25 to 1”? Because that is just a lie by the British press. It is a nice headline but not rooted in reality. Russia is waging an attrition war, not a war to conquer land at expense of its soldiers. An attrition war plays into Russia strength because of its superior population size and its willingness to take more pain than the EU.

Ukraine has fought bravely but it’s not in the position to win. It would have gotten a much better deal in 2022 but it listened to Boris Johnson who last year admitted this is a proxy war against Russia. There is no miracle weapon to stop the Russians. Russia is determined to finish this once and for all so it doesn’t have to deal with Ukraine again.

Spring is coming which means another Russian offensive is coming. Ukraine will fight and it will lose some more until its soldiers realize there is no point in dying for a war it cannot win.

This website was at one time far more active, I do agree, but there are so many other websites and demands on our time, I can see how people drifted away. Plus, there are people out there like me who are no longer practicing and thus have less to contribute.

Fourteen years after walking away, I have decided not to renew my two state licenses (I live in a border city). One has already been put on inactive status, and the other will follow in a couple months.
