Really dumb question...BUMP??

Hey, what does BUMP mean, exactly? I've seen threads where people say, "i've bumped this thread cuz its really good"...and sometimes I see "bump" written as one of the posts in the thread.

i know its dumb, but any explanations? haha

a bump is where you reply to a thread for the sole purpose of putting that thread on the top of the page. it is usually very frowned upon in most forums as most bump posts are really just spam posts.
