Wow, that's a tough one.

Pitt: Great school, but PA...yuk!
Dartmouth: Ivy-med, but a rural location which can be depressing for some.
Mt. Sinai: NYC...awesome and good reputation.

I think it depends on where you want to live and possibly do residency. If I were you I would be deciding between Dartmouth and Sinai. If you are a city person and can't stand rural locations, then go with Sinai. But if you are into hiking and camping, go with Dartmouth.

I would pick Pitt. Great school, and Pittsburgh is actually a nice city (despite the fact that its name contains 'pit').

Pitt or Sinai, whichever you like better. I would leave Dartmouth out

Since the schools are about the same, this one comes down to location location location.

Im a city person

remember, 4 years go fast.

ranking wise, pitt is the best so if you are seriously thinking about academic medicine/ research you should consider pitt.

but you should ultimately go where you will be happy. nobody can decide for you.

if you are into huge, butch, ungroomed, ugly-ass rugby-playing women as well as being in the middle of nowhere, then welcome to dartmouth.

i've spent four years of undergrad here and am ready as HELL to leave this hellhole for some big city or at least suburban life.

i'm surprised people don't go ****ing nuts here. there is literally NOTHING to do except drink beer, grow a beard, and build log cabins.

i'd like to make an actual point now: the patient community at the hospital here (which, btw, is a really beautiful hospital) is extremely homogenous. older population, almost exclusively white. therefore, you'll definitely be lacking a lot of the cultural exposure and be handling a very limited set of patient types. they said during the interviews that "although the patient community is not diverse, the illnesses are."

well, this is true only to some extent. many illnesses are more prevalent in certain ethnic and socio-economic groups.

After the first two years at Dartmouth, don't Dartmouth med students go on to Brown for clinicals? I may be completely wrong... I only interviewed at Brown and didn't apply to Dartmouth.

Most DMS students take at least 2 away clerkships, so diversity won't be a problem. Surgery (which is awsome here) and IM are the only 2 things that people stay here for. Peds (OC, CA), Fam (AZ/NM/FL/AK), OB (CT) and Psych provide tons of diversity. Not to mention the connections that you'll get from the faculty here are 2nd to none, especially considering that most people here are from Harvard.

SD, the med school chicks are actually much hotter than the undergrads 😉

that's only for the dartmouth-brown program. only about 20/85 1st years are in this program.

on my interview day, our tour group ran into a couple of 1st year students who said hi to andy welch and offered to chat with us about DMS. the guy was a friendly indian chap, and the chick was an insanely hot blonde. her image was burned in my mind the rest of the day. 😀
