JDAD don't you attend UTSW? Is there a way you can get a list somewhere? I'm curious to see where everyone ended up.JDAD said:I am also interested in UTSW's match.

Frankly I'm a little disappointed in it (I'm a first year). Past years lists have been a little more impressive. For 06 there were no matches at MGH, JHU, Brigham or Stanford. Not that the list was bad, but to have no one match at any of the above programs suggests a slight lack of competitiveness.

This info is not generally available and its useless. The great majority of those who participate in the match match into one of their top choices regardless ofWiggyUD said:Does anyone know if it is possible to find stats on how schools have done as far as matching with first, second, third choices?
Is this informations available any where?
Specifically I am looking for information on Ohio State and the University of Cincinnati. I am trying to decide which school to call home next year.

the school.Students tend to apply to programs that will be most favorable to them. They only rank places that have called them for interviews.
What matters is this..Will the school I go to offer me options to follow my career interests on graduation? Based on the lists posted here it appears that most US med schools will provide this, based on the wide variety of hospitals/specialties represented.WiggyUD said:Thanks for the reply
So, the school you go to really has no affect on where you will end up for residency?
I'm guessing that in general the same types of students end up at the same schools each year and that they eventually end up at the same types of residency programs. Is this a correct generalization?

I would not say the school has no effect. The most prestigious med schools do match a higher percentage of grads into "name" hospitals, they likely have a better shot at competitive specialties. That is a function of the type of students who go there and the academic orientation of the school. For most medical grads ..its not an issue.
