I got Miami's secondary. My MCAT isn't in yet, so they based it just on my gpa. It said that I have met their gpa requirements, and that "to receive committee consideration, you must have a minimum composite MCAT score of 24 and you must have taken the exam in 2005 or later. To be truly competitive, non-Florida applicants must have an MCAT score of 30 or higher." Oh, and I'm a non-resident.
Their secondary asks which campus you want (Miami or Boca Raton), and that if you make a selection you'll be considered only for that campus. No preference will mean consideration for both. They also have a section to establish your FL residency. As for the secondary essay questions:
Non-Science/ Non-Medical Life Experiences
Follow the instructions and write brief narratives of your activities in the categories listed. Leaving categories blank in this section will not make the application incomplete. Where appropriate, indicate the year(s) in which you performed the activity and the length of your involvement. Narratives are limited to 375 characters each. Do not refer the reader to your AMCAS application:
Community Work
(organized activities performed for the benefit of the community)
Employment
(work experiences during the past five years that have been unrelated to science or healthcare)
Counseling/Teaching/Leadership
(activities as a leader, organizer, counselor, advisor, or teacher)
Fine Arts
(activities involving dance, drama, music, art, photography, etc.)
Sports
(organized team sports or recreational activities that you play, watch, or follow)
Journalism
(activities in which you served as a writer or editor)
Travel
(describe your most memorable travel experience)
Hobbies
(what do you do/collect for fun and relaxation)
Page 4 Narrative One
Briefly describe the one healthcare experience that has had the most influence on your decision to study medicine. Please note that this narrative is limited to 1,875 characters. Do not refer the reader to your AMCAS application.
Narrative Two
Tell us why you would like to study medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. If you chose either the Miami campus or the Boca Raton campus to attend, tell us why you would like to attend that campus.
I haven't finished going through the secondary, but I think those are the main questions from reading the application instructions. Oh, and it's an online application, with online payment ($65). I love that.
