Does Stanford send out a "we received your AMCAS" email? I'm a little worried that I've been verified for 8 days and 3/7 of my schools haven't sent a verification email yet.

No, but I briefly mentioned it to the PI of my lab, who is an interviewer for Stanford. I was talking about secondaries, and I said, "I heard Stanford's is coming out on the 15th, so I'll be working on that soon..." He just kind of nodded and said "yeah" and we went on with the conversation. I don't consider this a strong confirmation... maybe he really did mean "yes, it's coming out on the 15th" or maybe he meant "yeah, i'm sort of kind of listening to you, continue speaking".

So, any word? I don't even know if Stanford has received my AMCAS yet.

Why does Stanford have a high preference for in-state residents? Almost 50% of the class is in-state. Just curious. Is it coincidental?

The info I read says they send out "rolling secondaries", whatever that means. Not sure if they screen to determine how soon you get them, or if it's just a first-come, first-serve basis. I did apply to Stanford though, and have not received the secondary yet.
 
no they don't: "ALL applicants will be invited to submit a Stanford Supplemental Application once we receive your AMCAS application. Invitations will be sent via e-mail and regular mail, and will be accompanied by directions for completing the Supplemental Application."
 
I think they just don't send all the secondaries out to their applicants all at the same time.

On a sidenote, have the rest of you been getting it now? Mine came at roughly 11:55 EST. Maybe they're just staggered throughout the day, which is weird though because you'd think they'd just automate it all at once then.

Did they notify you earlier that they received your AMCAS? I haven't gotten a secondary yet, but maybe it's because I wasn't verified that long ago.

When they say rolling, it's much like the UCs. They send them out in batches based on verified AMCAS submission date. So, if you applied later, you will get it later. They do not screen as far as I know, so unlike the UCs, you all should get this $80 bundle of joy.

not really, esp stanford's.

but it gives a chance for an interview, and then a good excuse to waste money to go to cali, which i really want to see.
 
Fair enough.

Stanford's secondary is substantially shorter than Duke's so I'll definitely be filling it out and turning it around in a few days when I get it.
 
I just got the secondary too...
My AMCAS was verified 7/27. Stanford sends all applicants secondaries tho... you guys'll probably get it later today.
 
why does stanford aim for such a small class each year? i think only about 80 ppl enter each class?
 
is anyone still waiting on the stanford secondary? like me?
 
verified 6/24, no secondary
 
i mean as part of their curriculum, every student has to apply for a scholarly concentration and do some significant project, research or otherwise, its hard for a school to accomodate all that with so many kids.
 
A lot of med schools that are accustomed to having small classes can't suddenly start accepting more people. That would require building larger facilities, increasing staff, etc. Having crowded classrooms really does reduce the quality of education.
