I just heard from a friend that I might have to take this test if I wasnt born in the US. If anyone can help me out, I appreciate it.

Here is my situation: I'll finished my bachelor in Bio next year while sending out my application. I am a US citizen and did well in all my English courses. Is this test still apply to me?

Hi Fushi.tarazu! It all depends on the school you apply to. Certain school might waive your TOEFL requirement if you get B or above for your college English courses. Other schools would waive it if you attend High School in the United States, providing that you write them a letter of request to the admission office stating the reason why you want to waive your TOEFL requirement (i.e. grew up in the United States, attended and graduated High School in the United States, good SAT/ACT/PCAT verbal scores, etc.) Other than that, if the school keeps on insisting you to take it... don't sweat... the TOEFL is just a walk in the park!!! Hope my advice help 😀

Only those that are international students (meaning you're either on a student visa or a working visa, J1 or whatever) are required to take the toefl. Since you are a US citizen, i don't see any reason as to why they would want your toefl scores. I don't think they would even ask 🙂

If you will your BS degree from any US instution, you do not require to take TOEFL regardless of your visa status.
But, they would ask you for TOEFL if you had your education in non-english speaking school and your mother tongue is not english regardless of the fact that you are an american citizen.

Don't Worry about that TOEFL since you have a bachelor from the US. Some schools do require it. But they will waive it if they know you have a bachelor from the US. I'm in the same situation. I got accepted this year. I was born here but raise abroad in a french country. Came back here and getting a bachelor this year. I apply this year and got accepted without the requirement of TOEFL.

Yep, if u have a Bachelor degree from any US institutions, u don't have to take TOEFL.

It all depends on the school you apply to. English is my second language, but I am a US citizen and been living here for 15 yrs. I got my BS from UF, but UF still tell me I had to take the TOEFL but the other schools didn't ask for it. It is not a hard test, you just have to waste $150 and 4 hrs of your life for it!
