Has anyone ever had any section of the MCAT re-graded (sent in the $50) and had success? I took the Aug. MCAT and got a 7 in the physical sciences. This is my best section, and has never been lower that a 10 on any practice test, and was a 10 on the April MCAT. I am contemplating this but don't know if it is worth it. Any advice?

hey, I don't think it could hurt. if you really beleive that this isn't the score you acheived and that you did well on the other sections, it should be worth your time. i'm not sure if re-grades cover like errors in bubbling like shifting or something. but gluck and let us know how it works.

It will certainly give you peace, but bear in mind that it most likely won't change your score. If you have the $50, go for it. I would probably do it too in the same situation.

unfortunately this is VERY TRUE!! to the OP, you're not the only one who second guessed the administration and have tried doing it. but if you want the truth, it'll be a waste of $50. unless of course as one member mentioned, to give you that piece of mind.

just do it...you may waste $50 dollars of your time worrying about it. I somehow doubt that the AAMC does not make 1 single mistake out of 30,000 examinees in one seating.

Well, I would go ahead and get a regrade. I emailed MCAT after I took the exam in august because there was this one quesiton on the physical sciences seciton that really bogged me down. It turns out that the question was worded incorrectly. I received a letter from AAMC saying that the question was wrong and should not affect my score. i guess they dont look at these questions closely!!!

I just wish that i would have had more time to answer the other questions in the seciton. i think i would have gotten a another point. oh well...

Any question that is improperly worded is likely to be part of the experimental section and therefore not effect your score anyway.

is there documentation to confirm this or is it all hear say?

to the OP: if you really think you performed better than the grade you were awarded, i'd say it's defintely worth pursuing it? the $50 would be well spent. But only you know how you feel you did in tat section and as long as you are aware of the odds of improvement going into it, it can't hurt. good luck

there is actually some official documentation in the form of aamc's resposne to this question floating around somewhere. i'll make a small effort to look for it, but i have seen the documnet. i think it might be on a FAQ on the AAMC web site.

oh ok, i'd actually like to read it if you do find it. I just know how rumors get spread but if you actually saw it yourself, i do believe it.

Multiple-choice section scores have never changed on rescore, as far as I know. Changes on WS rescores have been known to happen and, at least once, it was a significant difference. Changes do go down as well as up, however.

My guess is that you shifted them off, and bubbled in the right answers for the wrong questions. I doubt the re-grade will do a thing.

That may be the case with the numeric score. However, they did re-grade my essay section and it went up (not that the WR matters in the application process). It took them 3 months.
