This years meeting has a CRNA delivering the only lecture on interventional pain management, a "naturopathic doctor" delivering a lecture on homeopathic injections and another on "Platelet Rich Plasma in Regenerative Injection Therapy", a PharmD delivering a lecture on "Better Living Through Pharmacotherapy", and chiropractors delivering lectures on pain physical exams. It appears this organization is indeed living up to its goal of multidisciplinary pain management. It is unclear whether this organization ever questions the appropriateness of therapy or qualifications for performing advanced interventions. Physicians should evaluate pain organizations and their membership in organizations based on the fundamental goals of an organization and whether evidence based medicine is being employed in their teachings, lectures, and scientific publications.

Algos is too nice to say it, but since you all know what a cantankerous contrarian I can be, I have no reason to be politically correct (why start now 😉): These folks are ******, and will accredit anyone who is willing to write them a check.

I sort of had my suspicions when the first edition of Weiner's pain textbook came out in the 90s and there was an entire chapter on using colchicine that was about 99% anecdotal.

i recently had a PCP point out that one of my competition is AAPMgmt-certified.... and was wondering why i hadn't achieved that status yet...

yikes....

Tell him the feathers in the witch doctor headdress made you sneeze.
