Location (what school?)
- UCB, School of Optometry
What year?
- First year
When are your classes? (ex 9-5)
- Start at 8 a.m. everyday from M-F. End at different times each day. End at 1 p.m. on M and W, 12 p.m. on F, and 3:30 p.m. on Tu and Th partially due because of a huge lunch break of 2.5 hours. Some labs are not scheduled every week so some M and W I could be out by 11 a.m. and some F I'm only in school for one lab from 8-9 a.m. Trust me, I got the lucky schedule this semester - not everyone has this.
Where do you live? (apt/on campus?)
- Apartment about 5 miles away from campus.
Do you socialize? (how long?)
- Everyday is a social event! I go out to lunch with friends every day, which is costly, but it's great to get off campus. There are also social events planned through the social committee throughout the semester (Napa Wine tour, karaoke, bowling, etc.) and some things that a few of my friends plan for us (Secret Santa party, hot pot party, shopping, etc.). This does not happen every week, but I would say at least once a month we plan a "little adventure" to look forward to.
Do you exercise? (how long?)
- I try to do yoga at least everyday, but I usually only have time for a few poses. I would say that I probably complete about 2 hours of exercise each week. That's going to change though - I gained so much weight from the holidays that I'm going to join a yoga studio again. A lot of my classmates work out everyday at one of the gyms around the university.
How long do you study?
- I would say around a few hours at home each day and NEVER on Friday nights (habit I picked up in undergrad). First semester I had a lot of breaks, so I would be studying for a few hours at school also. When exams are around, that's when the crazy studying of 6+ hours a day occurs.
What are your weekends like?
- Cleaning up the apartment. It took me the entire semester to finally settle into my apartment. Cleaning up takes some time because I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment and I have 2 cats. I also bring my laundry to my parent's home to wash (they live about 45 minutes away). I go grocery shopping and to Target (I always find something there to buy). I catch up with all my shows on TIVO and that does take a while. When I can, I squeeze in some hours of studying as well =).
Best wishes,
Rosanna
