Hello
Have exchanged a few pms with people regarding the financial angle - might be useful info for others. So sharing.

May be useful to consider following as well in choosing your school (if you are fortunate to have multiple offers) and in deciding how to finance your studies:
1. Cost of living
2. Fees
3. Ease of getting a job or starting own practice after graduation...

2 yrs is a long time....even minor differences in living/other costs add up over the yrs...also what might look like small difference in fees of about 50k over 2/3 yrs is actually a huge amount (higher than the median us income)....even though it might look like a small fraction of the overall fees..... how many newly minted dentists really make the median us income ? and remember after graduation the loans have to be paid using *post-tax* dollars.... .....and one has to have a life as well...so there will be other expenses..... :scared:

please consider that cost of living as indicated by schools is vague....could be more or less depending on ones lifestyle and choices one makes....

the profs in school can help students land post-study positions....and these are usually in the areas near the school.......but do the areas near ones chosen school have a need for yet more dentists? Based on what I have seen and heard from people..... CA & NY are tough places for a dentists to start out...the number of dentists is so large already.... :scared:

very true...good job !

This is very true. It is better to have a financial plan. Dentists earnings depend on so many factors especially in an private practice.
