This sucks... no Northwestern or Boston for me yet

Haha, I'm so glad I didn't get Northwestern's yet. I probably wouldn't get it done in 2 weeks w/ so many others waiting in line. :)

I won a spelling bee. I think I would put that if I was applying to BU. No $hit. Seriously.

I won my school spelling bee in 6th grade, Jackie

Add University of South Carolina to the list. They screen, but I got an email invite to their website application on 7/27.

What's the deal with UCLA-Geffen? When I log in on their website, they say that I've been invited to fiil out a secondary, but I haven't gotten an email/letter inviting me to do so. So, I'm working on it, and hopefully they want me to submit it.

 That is so awesome! I lost the 7th grade spelling bee on "Equilateral" in like, the second round. I was devastated.

Just got an email from Emory...looks like the secondary won't be out until Aug 15th

Spelling bee champion of Carroll County, Missouri...in...1996? Good gracious.

And I'll vouch for that Emory email delaying the secondary until August 15th. I got it, too.

I got an email from MSU asking for money. I already paid those greedy aholes. :)

my pre-med committee just sent out my letters of recommendation/committee letter last friday. they sent it to all the schools so the three that i'm still waiting on for secondaries will receive my letters before i turn in my secondary. do you guys know if that's ok? i'm assuming it is or else the committee wouldn't have sent them, but as you all know, this process creates a lot of paranoia :p

and p.s. looque, it makes me sad that you won't be joining me or joanofarc at our pitt interviews!

Many of the schools to which I'm applying will have received my committee letter before I submit my secondary. I don't think it's an issue.

And hey, I'm driving six hours for that interview. Six hours isn't bad, mind you--I'll do 22 hour drives straight--but it's enough to make me want to interview on a Friday rather than a weekday. Plus, I have a couple friends that moved to Pittsburgh after their graduation, and this will allow me to catch up with them over the weekend. You're the one that chose a crazy weekday interview!

i chose september 15, which is a friday :) i chose it so that i can just drive from pittsburgh to ohio for my OSU interview the following monday. sooooo if my "crazy" date hadn't been filled already, you could have been there with me! :p

I don't think we had spelling bees back where I come from...but I'm sure I would have enjoyed one!!

We just played 24 all the time. Has anyone ever played that? It was one of my favorite math games in school.

Well I'll be, the 15th is a Friday. Yeah, that one was already full when I was selecting a date. I'm still deliberating over whether or not I want to add OSU to my list. It certainly wouldn't be my top choice, but I have several friends going there, and it is a good school.

I got the Emory email too....I am kind of glad they are so late...I'm feeling a little bogged down!

I got the University of South Carolina and the Wayne State secondaries my snail mail today. South Carolina has no essays, and I will list Wayne State's on the secondaries questions page if they aren't already there!

Good luck to everyone!

Guys watch out with Tufts. They don't state how long you can write your essays (they just say in a paragraph).. but it seems it will cut off your essay if you write too much!

Is there any compelling personal reason or circumstance/history that motivates you to attend TUSM in particular or to study in Boston, as opposed to attending another school or studying in another city?

How many are writing this. Specifically those with no ties to MA

Yea, that had to be the funniest secondary. Give us money and then we will tell you the secondary essays.

If there are like whole buncha essays for MSU, I am going to be pissed.

damn i was so gonna answer that until i read that last sentence :( . they seem to really make it clear that they understand if u leave it blank though...

I agree
i have been searching. It sounds like unless you have a husband/wife there, sick family member, etc they want it blank.

"I don't think they're looking for a generic BS essay on why boston is great. I think by special circumstances and personal reasons they're looking for things of more significance like if your husband goes there and you think it would help the marriage to be in the same area or if a family member is an alum or if you did research with someone there and that motivates you. They say pretty explicitly that it's ok to put no which I took as a hint not to go into some typical spiel on why their curriculum is interesting."

with that said i think it will be blank for me.

Please add Univeristy of New Mexico :) to the list of secondary invitations!!!!!!!!!!

TUFTS payment doesn't work for me. Anyone else get it to work?

I am very frightened by the fact that I lost a spelling bee at a similar age on the SAME word with the SAME misspelling!

Crazy.

I wonder how many other pre-meds were spelling bee nerds...

What about the diversity question... I feel like that one is less "optional..."

"No, I am not special in any way. At all. I am invisible. You won't even know I exist. Except for my regular tuition checks."

They are all optional. To what degree is the question. They always find a way to make you think. Now you have to think if they think you are supposed to do something thinking for this essay........... :wow:

EDIT: Also, chula505, how did you receive notification?

Michigan State sends an email requesting money. They say that if they invite you for an interview you'll have to write several essays then. I don't know if that counts as a secondary, but if so, Michigan State emails its request.

Nice work, Joan.
To everyone who has applied to Rush, from their confirmation email, they let us know:
"Your application to Rush Medical College is now complete! The Committee on Admissions will begin reviewing applications in September to determine which candidates will be invited to campus for an interview. Our Recruitment Season will officially begin in October and continue with select dates through February, 2007."

The underlining is mine. So if you are applying to Rush, for the love of Jebus, if you want to be first-round, you gotta get it in this month. :)

Got the Vanderbilt secondary/interview invite in the mail today....!

I'm afraid I'd kill the beautiful list of secondaries, so could someone update it? :)
