What happened? Residency (not hospital) shut down? St. Vincent's in New York shut down, the hospital and residency. Or did Wilmer or University of Maryland take over the residency?

The rumor I heard about Maryland General Hospital ophtho residency shutting down was that they'd never meet the new surgical numbers for cataracts, but that was just a rumor. Once you're in a residency, the PD's will make sure you get a spot somewhere else if the program shuts down. So I'm pretty sure everyone got a slot somewhere.

Maryland General merged with the Univ. of Maryland down the street. Their 2nd year residents were part of last year's graduating class. Maryland General is now a rotation of the University.
