I made a flow chart for Canadian medical schools on premed101 [I'm user: register] and I have decided that SDN can use this useful flow chart I made too. Just replace the name of the Canadian Schools with the American equivalent, and scale the grading to the American system and everything should run the same way. Enjoy

To the Mods: I'm sorry I made a double post on the WAMC subsection, could you please delete that.

Thanks for posting! It was entertaining.

um HOLY CRAP!

According to this chart, I guess a 3.5 is considered bad grade and you need to go back to school to improve your grade ...lol😱

Holy Crap. That was a work of art. I just read the whole thing.

I especially liked "Nature, Science? O RLY?" and constantly changing your opinion between the interview going great or terrible.

But isn't the Canadian GPA system slightly different?

Canadian GPA's are really different. A 3.5 there is a lower performance than our U.S. 3.0.

OMSAS GPA System:
4.0 = 90%-100%
3.9 = 85%-89%
3.7 = 80%-84%
3.3 = 77-79%
3.0 = 73%-76%
2.7 = 70%-72%

WTF, mate?

That explains a few things.

Haha, that was awesome.:laugh:

really!!! a 3.5 canadian GPA is < 3.0 U.S. GPA...that's sick...makes me wanna hug uncle sam now

Well, Canadian grades and American grades do not equal each other. You have to remember Canadian schools grade differently too. Most classes have a median in the mid-60's, whereas in the US, a 60 is considered a fail.

The GPA scale given is converted to be equivalent to the U.S., whereas the percentage grades will be different.

nicely done, worth my time.

Remember that this is only OMSAS. (AKA eastern canada)
In the west, where i go to school, an A and A+ are both 4.0

Yeehaw buddy. Great job.

Got a chuckle or two out of me here at work. 👍

lol...its the funniest thread I've seen all day.

That flow chart is intense.

haha..if you got a 45T, you are an automatic 'troll' ......lol

Amazing! Why the fourier transform?

Except that most class averages are around a 60% or a C. Just as importantly, after four years of university up here, I haven't been in many classes where more than 2-3 people got higher than 90%, but quite a few where nobody did (and a few were I was the only one). Trust me, the system is the same, which is why AMCAS equalizes our A's to be worth the same as yours.

Okay, who wants to type this up in C++ so we can just a run a program and get the answers?

That is one hell of a flow chart!

I'm not sure where American Secondaries fit in the whole scheme of things. I suppose it'll be another step in between application and interviews.

lol i like the troll part.

Excellent chart!

o rly?
