Bad news. I just called Lisa and she said all the decisions have been made and will be going out tomorrow I think? They're all set to go out. She said we can't find out over the phone tomorrow because they're supposed to give time for the letters to reach us. Maybe a few days after though.

...She said the class is full, now it's just waitlist and unsuccessful applications going out...🙁

Sorry guys...

Wait...what?

The letters going out tomorrow are only waitlists and rejections?

Seriously...I don't understand the post. Is the bad news that we can't call and find out tomorrow or is the bad news that they somehow magically gave out half the class since the last time someone called and are now only going to give out waitlists and rejections?

I mean aren't the letters tomorrow for accepting like half of the class and then waitlists and rejections?

Please dear god tell me that the bad news is just that we can't call tomorrow.

From what he says it seems like they were being less than honest about still having ~1/2 the class open and that if we haven't heard anything by now we are either waitlisted or rejected....

Really depressing...

Sorry! I meant the bad news about it being rejections/wait lists. Who said that there were still acceptances? When I called Friday they said less than 15 acceptances left, which I took to mean pretty much none. Then I called and talked to Lisa today, she said that the class was full and that the letters going out were either waitlists or rejections now. I thought as much because they had 2nd look weekend this past weekend, it wouldn't make sense for them to have it then if they hadn't already filled the class...

But someone told said that they are still filling half the class...?

yep. that sucks. but i was thinking the same thing with the second look being this past weekend. was hoping though... haha

ok, now lets get excited about waitlist!

I may be wrong but I remember this same thing happening last application season.....people got all kinds of varying information and everyone was frustrated!

I came to ECU with my doubts, but I must confess I was highly impressed! Everyone was friendly, and the students and faculty appeared to be a diverse, close-knit group. UNC, on the other hand, did not impress me at all. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear though.

no mail yet from UNC (I live right near the school)

For those of us close to UNC, I'm guessing we will get our mail today. Good luck to everyone!

Doubtful...I think a general rule when dealing with UNC is to add a week or two, at least, to everything they say. I talked to the office yesterday and they said "the goal is to have them out this week." Which means, we probably won't start getting letters until next week.

That is so frustrating! It's almost as if you can't trust anything they say when you call because some people might tell you there are acceptances left, like they did Friday, and some tell you none. Some tell you that the letters will be sent out on time, others that it won't. Some say they will tell you your status when the letters are sent out, others that they won't. It's almost as if you get unlucky when you talk to one person, but lucky when you talk to another.

I guess there is nothing left to do now but wait till we have the actual letter in our hand. I feel that's the only thing we can trust when it comes to UNC's admissions office.

Such a fun game, this admissions process.

Imagine what it must be like for them, fielding the identical questions from anxious premeds all day. Not a job I would want.

Hi good people... No news in the mail today. I am in DC though. Anyone closer get anything?

the office says waitlists will be emailed so hopefully someone will get an email soon.

Nor I. That's probably why I'm not working in the Admissions Office.

I hope we all get e-mails soon, and that there is a lot of movement with the waitlist. 🙂

I've never posted on here before, but I check this thread pretty often and thought I'd pass along the following info. I just spoke with Lisa, and she said that decisions should go out by 10am tomorrow. She also said we could expect emails by the end of the day tomorrow and letters by Thursday. Lets hope its for real this time...

Did she imply that these were only waitlist/rejection letters or is there still hope?

Keep in mind that some people don't ever hear anything from UNC or ECU.....my daughter was one of them last year. She was waitlisted and never heard a thing.....even once the classes were full and the new school year started.

Just got the e-mail... does anyone know if they take your last semester grades into account when pulling people off the waitlist? I have totally been slacking off in biochem 🙁 so hopefully the answer to that is no.

what time did they sent the e-mail? can u reply to that please.

2:35... it says it's from Eric Shuler

I got my waitlist email around 230 eastern

Nothing for me. So sad. Ok, hopefully my ECU interview goes well on Thursday! Congrats to all those who got on the waitlist!

good luck on your ECU interview on Thursday! i hope it goes well 🙂

really, though it is a pretty low stress day- so don't worry too much.

Does anyone know if UNC's waitlist is ranked?

I liked ECU a lot more than UNC. Good luck MedHopeful.

I also got the waitlist email yesterday. Lets hope there is a lot of movement!

I am so unqualified for UNC that I shouldn't be even allowed to read this thread. But being a positive guy, when I got a call from a 966-XXXX number, and my heart just stopped for a second. Like Mike Huckabee (whom I actually like by the way), I thought maybe I should also believe in miracle.

Well, it was a call from UNC dermatology for an appointment reminder for my daughter. I am anxiously waiting to get my rejection letter.

I wish I could add more than conjecture about UNC at this point, but I will pass along what a friend was told when he called the office...

He called on Tuesday, and was told there was a stack of letters to send out; acceptances, waitlists, and rejections. With all the conflicting information from the office, this may be total crap, but if it is true, it means there is still some good news to be had for everyone. If it's not, I'm sorry for passing along falty information.

Good luck everyone! I hope you guys hear something very soon.

Just got the rejection letter. No bitterness here- I think I knew that I didn't really want to go to med school at all and it probably showed in my applications. I guess I had to apply to finally figure out that med school wasn't for me (I just wish it hadn't been so expensive!).

Still love UNC, of course; as an alum, that'll never change. I wish all of you new Tar Heels best of luck in Chapel Hill- and my thoughts are with those on the waitlist, and particularly those who didn't get in and are upset. Hang in there.

Thanks to you all for sharing the ride with me this year- I don't know if it was exactly 'fun' but I did learn a whole lot about myself, so in the end I think it was worth it. See you in Chapel Hill, some day, maybe!

No mail today... maybe tomorrow? Has anyone actually gotten an accept via operation final maneuver?

How come? You don't feel as passionate about medicine as you felt before you started the process? Why not try next cycle or D.O?

I am going to a D.O school in Florida. I must say after shadowing a D.O resident at UNC hospitals, I have no regret about my decision to go to a D.O school.

I got the rejection letter too. I haven't seen it yet..but my wife called me to tell me that. I was pretty much sure that I will get a rejection.

Yes! I got my UNC decision letter today, finally.

Rejection from UNC. Interview at ECU went great. I really liked it there. Ok, fingers crossed again!

I got my letter today. UNC officially broke my heart...

Congrats on everyone who made the waitlist, I hope there is a lot of movement so you can all get in. 🙂

Does anyone have a copy of the UNC secondary application that they would post? I'm curious as to what information is contained on the application.

I often read though rarely post; thought I might add a bit of hope to the thread.
Just wanted to wish luck to those on the UNC waitlist. Last year was a tough summer, with me hoping and praying and monthly updating the admin office, all in the hopes that the waitlist would convert into an acceptance. Though it does for a few at UNC, I ended up reapplying to all the NC schools this year.

I just got into ECU, and am ecstatic. I can't wait to start in Greenville.

Getting into med school can be such a subjective thing. There's no shame in having to reapply.

Best of luck to all those waiting to hear from all their schools, and especially to those hunkering down to retake the MCATs and reapply.

I also got my rejection from UNC this past Friday.
Good luck to those on the waitlist!

has anyone heard anything from ECU yet...I interviewed in early March and they keep telling me that final decisions have not been made...just wondering if people are getting notices on accept/deny/waitlist and how many seats are probably left???

Anyone on this thing still waiting for Wake Forest? Any Idea if they have filled thier class yet?

Probably will have to wait until may 15 for some WL movement. So anyone have an idea when their next Adcom meeting is.

I interviewed 10 days ago and they said they had 10-15 acceptances left to give out. They still had interviews to do through this week, I believe. They said that after your application goes to committee (~3 weeks), you are either accepted, denied, or put on hold for another committee. Only 5-10% of people are accepted at their first committee presentation. After interviews are over, they will look at everyone and offer the final spots. Im guessing this will be about 8-10 spots for everyone left. Then they will give out a few waitlist spots, but not many bc they dont anticipate that much movement.

Only a few more weeks of this stuff guys!!!

I thought ECU had a lot of movement?? Dont they accept like 150+ for the 76 spots?

Yeah, she said they accept way above their class size, but the waitlist itself isn't that big. So those 10-15 I'm talking about are the last acceptances, from what I gathered.

Well, got my rejection from ECU yesterday. Heartbroken. Med school just isn't happening for me this year.

I'm so sorry to hear about that, Med2008Hopeful. 🙁 But there is always next year, and they are opening more seats for UNC and ECU, which is a definite plus. Good luck! :luck:
