I interviewed in Oct., was put on hold and just got an acceptance letter so it is def. still possible.

No I did not. In my hold letter I remember it said they only thing they would accept were offical transcripts, which I did not send. This is the only school I didn't send updates to because last time I applied I was put on the hold list at Penn State and no one got off so I anticipated the same senario this year.
 
hey guys, so is the hold letter the same as being waitlisted? (b/c I just got one....) or do they actually have two lists, one waitlist and one hold letter? What are the chances of getting off the hold list and being accepted?

Yeah- the hold letter is the same as the waitlist. I also wanted to second what swim said, its definitely possible to get in off the waitlist. I interviewed back in September, was put on hold in Oct/Nov, and just received an acceptance two weeks ago. Looks like this year may be different than previous years...

I did send in a letter of interest before my hold decision back in Oct., but nothing after that. Based on my initial hold status and the time gap after that till my acceptance came (6 months), I doubt it had little if any effect, but who really knows? Definitely couldn't hurt.

Looks like I got your spot! I got a call from Dean Davis and Marc Lubbers on 6/3 (Tues)...

First acceptance!

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum. I got a call on 30 May offering me a spot into this year’s class. I interviewed in early March and was put on the post interview hold list on April 2nd. They are cycling through the waitlist so there is still hope.
 
Dr. Davis and Mr. Lubbers called me at 1:57 p.m.!! Finally off the waitlist!! Interviewed March 19th was waitlisted around 6 or 8 weeks later. First choice and first acceptance!! Sent my final grades, another letter of intent (3rd or 4th!) and an updated letter of recommendation from a previous recommender. Hang in there the waitlist is still moving!!! And let them know how much you love Penn State!!😍
 
Thanks for the ray of hope! Penn State was my only interview, too, and I had thought by now it was all over. I sent them 2 letters of intent before giving up to wallow in despair, but it looks like I might have thrown in the towel too soon. I admire your ability to keep the faith and persist in your harassment in the face of depressing odds. Congrats!
 
from the letter they sent about being on the waitlist, I thought they didn't want any extra information?
 
Hi folks

I was accepted back on June 3rd off the waiting list, but I wanted to let you all know that another spot has opened up. I just withdrew my position today, because I was accepted to my first choice at UCONN.

Good Luck to you all! I know how frustrating it is to sit and wait, but be patient and it'll happen!

Seriously lol I love threads this late. It always makes me happy to read "hey guys just withdrew, hope one of you guys gets the spot." And then reading a few post later "hey just got the call I'm in". So inspiring.
