hi, i'm in 3rd yr and am just thinking about doing a one or two year GPR in NYC after dental school. I understand there are lots of hospitals which offer GPR in and around NYC (including long island). i'm not from around New York at all so I wonder if anyone can give some input on which programs/hospitals would provide great training for residents. I was thinking of NY presby or Mount Sinai, or flushing hospital....i would like to be in a program with more dental residents though, i don't want to be the only GPR resident in tiny hospital and tiny faculty!

please feel free to give suggestions, i 'd really appreciate it.

thanks

hey I wonder if anyone can give me some advice. i'm a Canadian applicant who got accepted to UPitt and Suny-Buffalo; they are both great dental schools and that's why it's hard to decide. One thing though is UPitt is about $6000 more than Buffalo per year in terms of total expenses for a nonresident. But I'm kinda leaning towards Upitt for some reason...what do you guys know about buffalo?

thanks so much!

You couldn't decide which dental school to attend in 2003, and you're already in third year?

Impressive!

(busted!)

Anyhow, any reason you thought of NY Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai, or Flushing? Since most of us are usually trying to be helpful (& truthful) on this board, I can tell you that I interviewed at Mt. Sinai and a few other programs am willing to post my impressions here. One catch - you'll have to wait till Monday which is Match Day. Dependent on a successful match, I'll spill all I've got.

If you're still in first year, it is too early to know what you're looking for in a GPR other than the location possibly. If you're in third year, then I suggest visiting any programs you are interested in this summer; that's the best way to get the inside scoop.

LOL, you go classmate!

Just like shooting ducks (duckies?) at those carnival shooting gallery games. 😀
