Howdy folks..

Briefly, I was geared towards general surgery but after doing my third rotation just realized I can not stand to be in the OR for the rest of my life. So I'm strongly considering to pursue EM. However, I did not do any EM electives yet and I know it is pretty late in the game. Also I like many people have a strong inclination to go to new york.

Is it too late for me to change my field? What should I be doing now?

It's not to late

When I was a 4th year, I didn't even know what I wanted to do. I decided on EM after doing a tox rotation. I scrambled to get an ER rotation for the month of september, and then did an away rotation in November. I even know some other people that had even started submitting their ERAS for different specialties and changed their mind at the start of interview season and began applying to EM programs. My best advice is do an EM rotation to figure out if it is what you really want to do, bust your tail, and let them know that you're interested in EM. Also find an advisor in EM that can help you out.

Any more questions PM me.

Good luck!
