gioia said:Wow,
Congratulations! Are you in the first class? When I applied to schools last year I hadn't even heard of GA-PCOM. What is your curiculum and rotation situation like?

Geronimo said:I'm accepted and very interested in the school but I'm afraid I have a better financial aid package elsewhere. Money is huge to my wife and I since we are having a baby in 6 months.
beano said:I'm in and plan on attending! Any word on the housing situation? Maybe a list of people who might want to room together would be helpful..👍
Start a list!Drugtech said:So who do we have so far as the Ga-PCOM c/o 2009?
OrthoFixation said:Anybody else get a welcome letter today from PCOM? It said welcome, deposit received, we would be receiving additional mailings in the future, and must send in $2,000 by May 15.
mandar said:Ortho,
I haven't got anything in mail till now. I called PCOM-Atlanta office last week and they said they got my deposit check but the amount still hasn't been withdrawn from my bank account.

Have I missed anyone?
BMW19 said:-Yes, $2000 is due in May and I obviously don't think we will have financial aid by then
-There are updates on PCOM.edu about the school and some good hospitals they have made relations with here in Atlanta
-I was planning a trip up to the school site, but I am a practicing chiropractor and have had my hands full (no pun intended)

OrthoFixation said:My understanding of deposits and financial aid is that is a credit which is offset by your FA package/loans/etc, so you get the money back when FA aid is resolved. We will have a time shift to cope with and deal with moving expenses, deposits, down payments, etc.
I'll be sure to check out the updates. I was on about a week ago. Thanks.
Chiropracter!? I had no idea. Very cool. You should have a leg up in some aspects (no pun intended). BTW, I have this frequent lower back pain . . .
I told my wife she will have to learn enough OMM to make me feel better. I mentioned this at the GA interview and one doc said it was do-able, but not for him, since his wife was all thumbs! He said he gave up after about 20 years of trying.
How is the ice and snow in Atlanta? I hope there are no insurmountable problems. I've seen some wild pics on the news.
Once I am a lock for GA, I may take some of you up on that Atlanta info. I'll be looking to buy a home, find out the good areas, etc. The Texas match results are released Feb. 1. I can't ignore that in-state reduction if available. Either locale will be great in the end.
Congrat's to the new folks 👍 😀 This will be a pioneering class!
BMW19 said:Don't worry about the ice and snow in Atlanta. This storm was a rare event. In fact, the temps will be back up in the 60's this week. These freak storms do occur from time to time.
If you guys would like to start an email thread, and you feel comfortable then pm me your email addresses and I will send out a mass email so we can be in contact. Or we can just do it right here.....

Drugtech said:I figured I would ask, but I read something today that made me think otherwise. As far as anyone knows both MD and DO are req'd to do one year post-graduate of "internship" or "transitional year", before starting residency, right?
Drugtech said:Thanks, but what are the infamous 5?

OrthoFixation said:Hey gang-
Looks like I'm definately headed to GA 👍 I waitlisted across the board in the Texas match. No cheap tuition for me.
I'm really looking forward to getting started 😎 I hope the school is completed on schedule.
Anyone have MSI schedules? Maybe I should look it up on the parent site 😕
BMW19 said:From what PCOM philly students have said, class starts everyday at 8 A.M.!
I hope this is not the case. I don't mind getting up early, but wait until you see Atlanta traffic. I live 30 miles from where the school is! Ouch

OrthoFixation said:Hey BMW, good to hear from you again. Now its our turn to get snow tonight in Texas. It won't stick though, never creeping below 32 F.
What are your opinions for public high school education in the area? I'm thinking of buying a home close to the school, maybe even further NE to keep the price loooow. Normally, the closer in to the major city, the higher the home prices.
Any suggestions on schools? Kiddo will start 11th next year.
OrthoFixation said:Thanks for the heads up on schools. I will see if there is some rating agency like in Texas. I'm really not tooo old, we just had our son early!
BMW19 said:Ortho,
I wasn't implying that you were old, just that we don't seem like your typical "22 year olds right out of college" class. I for one have been a practicing chiropractor for 2 years.

OrthoFixation said:True, true. I just didn't want to leave the impression that I AARP eligible. I think some life experience will be a big help in yrs 3+.
Im 23 and graduating from Uga in the spring, and Im almost positive that Ill be going there next year.Drugtech said:So it seems like what everyone is saying is that those of us who will be 21 when school starts are the minority? 🙂
Drugtech said:Whew, for a minute there I was beginning to think I was going to be outnumbered 😀
I am filling out out the fafsa today. I hope the school code is indeed: 015979. As for age...I guess I'm an old timer compared to you guys. I'm 27 whole whoppin years old. Any ideas from you all on how much rent may be near campus?BMW19 said:I'm sure it will be a good mix, but up until now that is the way it seemed. Have you guys done anything for financial aid yet?
