SUNY Upstate High Priority Wait List???

I called today...they said it won't move til May 15. Anybody know how many people are on it or anything?? They said that it is ranked but wouldn't give me anything more except it will move after May 15.

damn.... more and more waiting...they wouldnt give you any kind of idea of your place on the list??? Who did you speak to?

I'm on the HPA List as well. I was also told there would be no movement until May 15, so we just have to sit tight. I'm sure as soon as anyone gets a call they will post to let everyone know that movement has started. I have heard that many people get in off the HPA in past years, but not everybody.
 
Just got off the phone with Upstate(Issabelle Rhoades)... I guess becuase it's May 15th they are very willing to let you know your chances of getting in off the High Priority Wait List... They told me I had a very good shot of getting in and that my spot has always been reached in the past 4 years...

Just thought some of you HPA listers out there might like to call also...

I just called and they wouldn't tell me anything about my position on the list, but they did tell me that they began pulling people from the list last week, however the person I spoke to last week said the list wouldn't move til after May 15 so I am not sure what was correct. She did say that they have received a lot of withdrawals, and she stressed "a lot" so hopefully things will work out! Also said the person who calls (I assume Ms. Welch) won't be in for a few days so the earliest they would be calling anyone is the end of the week, if even at all thsi week. Hope this helps! Well I remember an earlier UPSTATEADMISS post (You can search for it) on an another thread saying that after May 15th we can call and they will tell us if we have a good chance of getting in. Hope this helps.

I called today and they won't even tell me about my chances of getting in 😡. They only said that they will start calling people on the list from tomorrow if there are openings. This just sucks. Whats wrong in telling students about their chances of getting in 😡

I guess they don't want to mislead people. But waiting definitely sux.
 
Well, that seems weird. They said we can call and someone on this forum was able to do exactly that!!! Maybe we are talking to the wrong people. Ms. Welch would probably be the person to talk to on this matter or you could PM UPSTATEADMISS and they might let us know what is going on. I would try to get in touch with Mrs. Welch or the person the previous SNDer mentioned that told them abot their status.

Issabelle Rhoades I think is the right person to speak to....call the admissions office and ask to speak to her. She was very helpful when i spoke to her

I only know the HPA list started to move on May 15th. People have been accepted and nothing else.

I don't think this is true. Someone posted earlier that although they took a look and started pulling people off the HPA List last week, no one has been notified yet because J Welch (Admissions Director) is the one who makes the calls and she won't be in until later in the week (vacation).

I haven't heard of anyone getting in off the HPA yet this app cycle. I think we have to wait until end of this week beginning of next week.

I think that the start of MS-1 will be heaven compared to this waiting and uncertainty 🙂

While i want to be an MS-1 as badly as anyone... I highly doubt that...
 
Still no word for me...When I called they made it seem like the very earliest they would call anyone was the end of this week but possibly not til next. I am hoping maybe today or tomorrow will be the day! Maybe it is good they havent bc maybe they will call a whole bunch of people at once. 🙂

Hey..I got an e-mail from Carolyn Couch yesterday asking me to call the admission office. I think that means I got in?!
 
eh...just called the office and they said that only Carolyn is able to tell me the decision...eh??!! 😕 but I think the chance is big...or else why are they sending me an e-mail already... 😀
 
I was told over the phone that Ms. Welch won't be back for several weeks. So it may be another person who'll be notifying decisions.

eh...sorry, I forgot to write that the office said that Ms. Couch (Carolyn) won't be in until Mon. SO I will have to wait until then... 😴
Meanwhile, still trying to figure out the stats about Upstate...and I interviewed on Feb 6th.

According to my sources, it is true that Carolyn Couch is the one that will be contacting waitlisters.

A girl from my school got pulled of the HPA list last week. She interviewed end of February and actually had a really low MCAT so hopefully the list will keep on movin!!

Well it's good to hear the list is moving.

Now that we have some movement, what do people think about the Binghamton vs Syracuse campuses? Is it worth taking a gamble and accepting a Binghamton spot if you get the call even if you want to do surgery and then try and switch campuses later on? Is it better to stick with the Syracuse campus and turn down a spot offer for Binghamton and pray that another spot opens up on the Syracuse campus?

i feel like if it's this early on, and you get off the list, it wouldn't be too risky passing over on a binghamton spot. i remember mrs welch saying that, if you turn down a binghamton spot, they'll just keep your name handy until the next syracuse spot opens. then, it's all yours. so, i guess my rationale is that there are bound to be syracuse spots opening up eventually. so, if you're at the top of the list now, with a fews months left before classes start, i can't see how you wouldn't eventually be able to secure a syracuse spot.

i know, in my case, if i get offered a binghamton spot, i'm going to pass it over. at this point, i'm at a school that i can see myself at more than upstate. however, the instate tuition is still pretty enticing. anyway, best of luck to all my fellow hpa listers.

I'm in the exact smame boat as you.... at this point id have to say I would take any spot offered to me, unless thet could pretty much gaurantee i would get the next syracuse spot...

That's pretty much what I was thinking.
I would feel like a pretty big a$$ if I turned down a Binghamton spot and it later turned out I could not get a Syracuse spot and did not get accepted anywhere. After all, isn't it exactly the same except for 3rd and 4th year? I mean, everybody takes years 1 and 2 courses together at Syracuse anyway, so I suppose you have two years to try and switch, right?

Hi everyone,
I just found this thread and wanted to say that I'm in the same boat.....on the HPA list for Upstate. I hope they let us know something soon 'cause this waiting is getting to me too! I'll let you all know if I hear anything!
