Well I finally defeated the monster and am pretty satisfied with my scores. If I can do well on this test, anyone can. I went from a 15 AA 14 PAT on the kaplan diagnostic test 8 weeks ago to the following scores yesterday on the actual DAT:
Pat: 19 🙄
QR: 17 😡
RC: 21
Bio: 21
Gen. Chem: 25
O. Chem: 25
Total Science: 23
Academic Average: 22
DAT Achiever:
Test 1: PAT 16/QR 16/RC 20/Bio 16/Gen. Chem 16/O. Chem 19
Test 2: Pat 19/QR 16/RC 21/Bio 18/Gen. Chem 17/O. Chem 17
Test 3: Pat 17/QR 16/RC 20/Bio 17/Gen. Chem 17/O. Chem 18
Topscore:
Test 1: Pat 19/QR 17/RC 21/Bio 19/Gen. Chem 18/O. Chem 17
Test 2: Pat 20/QR 16/RC 22/Bio 18/Gen. Chem 17/O. Chem 21
Test 3: Pat 19/QR 16/RC 21/Bio 19/Gen. Chem 18/O. Chem 28
Do you guys think that ADCOMS will overlook my 17 in QR 😕 ? I have a 3.81 overall GPA and 3.76 Science.
I studied for 8 weeks for about 6-8 hrs a day for the first 6 weeks, and about 12 for the last 2. For my study I used the Kaplan book and DAT Achiever and topscore. Kaplan overprepares you for gen. chem and o. chem. For o. chem the most helpful thing was to right out all of the reactions in the kaplan book on paper and memorize them. For bio I memorized the entire Bio section and read chapters in Schaum's Bio Outline that I thought needed to supplement kaplan.
RC just read the first line in each paragraph and then look for the answers. I suck at math and always will. The math IS NOT HARD on the real DAT and if you put the time in, you can do well. I didn't put the time in on that section.
DAT achiever PAT is way harder than the real thing, except for angle rankings. Topscore is most similar I would say. I paniced like crazy during the real test, hence, the low score.
Attached is a study guide for the bio section I made. If you memorize this and read chapters out of Schaum's that you feel week on, you are good for atleast a 20+.
Anyways, just post questions if you have any! 😀
