HEY EVERYONE!

I just took the DAT today and I almost had a heart attack...

QR: 28 99.9%
PA: 26 99.9%
OCHEM: 28 99.8%
Gchem: 29 100%
BIO: 28 100%
RC: 27 99.6%
TS: 28 100%
AA: 28 99.9%

I knew I did well, but had no idea it would turn out so great. Thanks everyone so much. I've been an observer for a long time and drew my motivation from these boards. I've studied this thing for 5 months straight, for about 4 hours a day on average. I'm gonna go PARRRRR - TAY. BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE. Anyone can master this test if they just put their mind to it!!!!!

CONGRATS 👍
What did you mainly study??

Mel 😀

the amazing thing is that you didn't simply ace a few sections...you killed every single section on the exam....the PAT, QR, RC and the sciences. It's probably as good of a score you'll ever find someone earning on a DAT exam. Good job, and congrats! Just wondering, what's your GPA?

It seems like as a whole, everyone during this application cycle has done very well on their DATs. The admissions committees are going to have their hands full this year with all these qualified applicants. :luck:

oh man now i'm scared. i had only like a 20 on my dat :-(

I studied everything of course. For math, I went and found an old algebra book and did every single word problem I could find. Most of my problems were actually word problems. I had a few trig problems and before starting the test I drew out a table that is easy to memorize and gives you the value of every angle...0, 30, 45, 60, 90, and 180 for cos and sin. This came in handy. I'd try to write it in here but I think the formatting would screw everything up.

You'll think this is a bit nuts, but for PA I visualized every structure like the way the movie "The matrix" portrayed everything. With those little green numbers on every edge, etc. I know...crazy.

Kaplan subject tests, Schaums Bio outline, Exam Krackers for the MCAT (the best resource I found). My wife was studying for the MCAT and I took all her tests...I think this is what allowed me to train my brain to work much much faster.

For the angles on the PAT. I used triangles and measured them on the screen. People weren't kidding...those things are impossible. I didn't even ask if I could touch the screen or any of that BS. I figured it was the only way to have a reasonable shot. Word of advice...if you're not fast on the other sections...don't even try it.

RC...BS parapraphs on some investment crap, cancer, and something else. I'd ask for a re-grade if I didn't score so well and think my score might actually go down. Haha. I didn't think I missed one question on any of it, but whatever.

Food...I ate a ton of reeses peanut butter cups and red vines. I love licorice. For breakfast I ate Honey Bunches of Oats.

And the KEY TO IT ALL...I had good sex the night before.

Did you take any Topscore or DAT Achiever tests? If so, what were your scores?

Freaking amazing scores! please tell me you aren't a TX resident so I know I'm not competing against that!!

ohh mann...that's ::some word that hasn't been invented yet indicating how amazing your score is::

if only i had known your keys to success sooner heheh...good job man! congratulations!

I wonder how often people come on here , make up new accounts and post extremely high scores inorder to psych others out and make them feel insecure with their 22's?

Not saying this is the case here.. but im sure it happens...

Ah, slept very well last night.

No, not a Texas resident, nor am I applying to schools in TX. It's a little too hot there.

Anybody else feel weird the morning after the test? I feel like I'm already having DAT withdrawal symptoms and don't know what to do with myself. That test was such an integral part of my life for so long.

Yet another reason why I'm considering re-taking.

That's ridiculous DDS. Job well done. 👍

those are sick scores - congratulations! I'm taking it on the 14th and I'm worried about orgo... any advice?

DDS what are your stats? GPA, and where u go for undergrad, and where are you applying? All of you are scaring me.

If I had your scores, I would be in heaven right now. I think anything above a 20 is awesome, and shows that you really know your stuff about the subject... dds scores are INSANE..thats like missing 3 or 4 problems the whole test..thats the the .1 percent that will be getting those scores this year I personally don't compete w/ .1 percent of the applicant pool..

Good Luck

Thanks everyone. I knew I would murder this test for all the effort I put in. By triangles I mean pinching two pieces of paper together and measuring the angles that way on the screen.

For those who asked or are wondering. My Cumulative GPA is just a tad over 3.0 and my science GPA is just a tad below 3.0 so that's my main reason for needing to "kill" the DAT. I'm just shooting for NYU at this point as I could really care less where I go just so long as I get in.

Hah ,that's true I guess. Of course I've been here for a while, and have more then 5 posts 🙄

Not to seem like I have sour grapes, but this seems like a troll. Also, how do you have an AA of 28 in the 99.9% percentile, when the 2 people on this site who've managed 25 AA were both in the 100% percentile?

Different tests will have different percentiles for the scaled scores. If you look at a lot of other score posts, there's many differences between the two.

DDS, where else besides NYU are you thinking of applying to.

Well, of course it "seems" like you have sour grapes.

Honestly, I was wondering the same thing though since you brought it up. Considering I've looked all over predents.com and all of the posts on here and haven't seen one score higher I don't know why it's not 100%. All things aside, if it's not the best score around it's pretty damn close and nobody's going to take that satisfaction away from me. And armorshell - you should be absolutely exstatic with a 25 AA so why the negativity? Good luck.

Hey, buddy, I am "exstatic" with my 25 AA, it's just, to me this site represents a place for people to get accurate information about applying to dental school. That's why I don't appreciate when people are appearing to be misrepresenting themselves.

Now I don't know what you know about the internet, but when someone who's never posted before comes on and throws out some seemingly impossible numbers, well to me it seems like that person is pulling chains.

Some may view my scores as inspiration in that what may be "seemingly impossible" to some (i.e-you), may also be motivation for others in realizing that they too may succeed admirably at this exam if they put in enough time and energy. I believe everyone can if they set their heart to it. I've no need to convince you, nor anyone else for that matter. I expected criticism before I even posted my scores so this comes as no surprise. I guess I wouldn't have expected it from someone who scored as well as you did though. Anyhow, I'll simply say that your incredulity is flattering and that' s all she wrote.

Wow!! I better pull my head out of my _ _ _ b/c this year is going to be way competitive with all these high scores..I was hoping at least a 19 but now I'm aiming for a 25..LOL... 😎

Alright man, but if you don't need to convince everyone why do you keep replying to me? If you want to convince everyone start sounding like someone who's actually taken the test.

How did you prepare? What were your practice test scores? What type of questions did you see on the science section? Man, if you really want to shut me up just post a scan of your score sheet.

hi dds...
can i pls ask you how long you studied for it? and overall were the information alreadt fresh in your mind when you started studying.. or you needed some major reveiw...

im re applying this year.. and im taking the test again... im still nervous and i dont know what else i could do to improve... didnt get such hot scores last time... and i have been studying for the test from the same material as you said.. exam kracker, kaplan, etc... just how long did it take you for you to feel comfortable and confident...? also how many full lenghts did u take?

respect each others guyz
do not ever doubt anyone if you are not 100% sure.
ofcourse someone could be lying or not but if you r not 100% sure
do not say **** to others
keep it down from now on
armorshell getting 25 is awesome and u freaked out the people already
plus dude if dds really got 29 then it only looks like you are jealous about his scores. u two guys already rock the dat...

so what if this dude is in the 99.9 percentile, that means that if there are a total of 14000 applicants this year there are only 14 people with that score so its not like he'll be keeping you out of your school of choice, we should feel privileged for being in his presence 😉

for measuring the triangles technique you discussed, did you fold a paper and put it against the screen to differentiate between the angles?

i think i'm definately going to have to do this!

It does seem strange since you have comparable percentiles, but i'm sure people questioned your high scores if they didnt know you were a regular poster. Scanning the report would prove if he's telling the truth, but it the end he/she is just one person. Lets just hope **DDS** is not a Washington state resident 😉 Same with the rest of you that are over achievers... stay away from my state school 😛 As always, good luck to everyone.

lol.. UW used to be on my list, but I didn't want to take *two* quarters of biochemistry and microbiology! One of each is enough for me 😳

Plus, I have some rather wacky relatives in Seattle :scared:

Haha, 3 days ago I wouldn't have cared less, but now I might actually have a miniscule chance at UW

Congrat. Those are the sickest scores that I have ever seen. To others, DDS can only go to one dental school next year. Therefore, there are approximately 4999/5000 of slots are still open for the class of 2011. Don't give up.
