Hello.

I've asked this before but I'll ask again hoping I can get more feedback. I'm a 2nd year student in Southern California but my pay is only 15 an hour (working at CVS), which honestly, I wouldn't complain about except my classmates get paid 17 an hour (working at Savons/CVS) and got paid more than me as a P1. Honestly, I don't find that too fair. My manager tells me it depends on the district or whatnot and my store not being a union store but is that just a bunch of crap? Because even with union fees, the pay is still more. I'm seriously thinking of getting another job because it's not as if the location of my store is great either.

For others working retail (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) in the Southern Cali area, what is your pay?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

By the way, excuse the CVS and Walgreen title, anybody working for any of the retails with any feedback would be great.

Imagex - I'm in N CA & not a student, but I'll give you a few things to think about.

First...they'll pay you as little as they possibly can. (They can be anyone - CVS, Walgreen, Target, whomever.....)

Second...the unions in S CA are a great influence. The union sets the pay scale, for better or worse....they also set the seniority, holiday rates, who works when, etc...

Third....you may have started with no experience at all & your classmates may have started at a higher rate due to experience - not just pharmacy experience either. In some situations, retail experience counts for a higher step on the pay scale. That doesn't mean you don't need a raise. After a year of school & experience, you should have received an increase by now.

Finally...why are you there? Is it for the money? If so - perhaps you need to put your feelers out for a better paying opportunity. However, if you are there for experience, is it giving you what you want? Are there other situations which will give you better experiences. As a student and even as a pharmacist, the money will become secondary to the income. A good paying experience can be horrible compared to a lower paying, but better environment.

Think about what you want & what is important to you......then you can make a good decision.

Good luck!

Be thankful you don't work for Target. First years get paid $12.

I just got hired as a P1 at a downtown Chicago CVS. Pay starts at $14 an hour and goes up about 2 bucks and hour each year.

I work at a CVS in RI, I wonder if I am getting substandard pay, my district manager says i am getting $12.50 because im now in my 5th year, if anyone works in mass or ri, please let me know if i am getting underpaid
