Hey guys.... I F'ed around a lot during freshman year and got into some trouble in my first intro to bio lab. I got written up to the judicial affair thing and recieved a C- in that lab. This was the turning point of my college career and I worked really hard to get to where I am now. It motivated me to study harder, do everything on my own and not to trust bad influence. I raised my science GPA to a 3.7 from 2.9 from freshman year. I am currently a 3rd and going to apply for fall 08... I am worried that because of the judical affair thing I will not get in. Has anyone been in my position or know of anyone that has and what the dental schools will think of this incident?

Thanks.

I actually got into some trouble my freshmen year also and had to write all about it on AADSAS. Only 2 out of the 4 schools that I interviewed at asked me about it. I got into 3 of those schools so far. Just be honest and let the schools know what you have learned from the experience and you should be fine. If this makes you feel better, I met a girl at my last interview that had been kicked out of school for cheating her freshmen year and she was recently accepted to dental school, so you should be fine. Also, the schools were really impressed that I even told them about the issue. One interviewer said "Wow, you are a very honest person because many students decide not to disclose this type of information and we never find out about it". Even though I now know that I could have kept it from them, I am still glad that I told and I suggest you do the same. Good Luck!

I agree with Byorkie. I would think think, assuming you don't have a string of bad academic incidents, but only one, you should be ok. It shows maturity to be honest and willing to acknowledge a mistake.
Be sure to not blame others in your explanation of the matter...

Wow! Thank you so much for this info.

yea buddy, i was on academic probation freshman year first semester and am currently sitting on a couple postion offers 😉 last couple years are the most important. and you only had a C- or something? you have nothing to worry about, my friend.

Awesome. Do you reccomend that I take the course which I got a C- in over?
