AMCAS. How long is it taking for verification at the moment?

I submitted last night. Nice to get that out of the way. Has anyone submitted recently? How long did it take to verify. Surely it doesn't take 4 to 6 weeks yet....
 
id say 3-6 days to be absolutely safe.
 
Mine took no time at all...

I was "in line" to be verified, then when I was "under review," it only took like 6 hours...

I submiteed 5:20am yesterday 🙂 Just checked and haven't been verified yet.
Silly question, but once verified, is that when they give you your BCPM GPA and AO GPA? And do we check their calculations to make sure they didn't mess up? Thanksssssssssssss
 
i submitted saturday evening...just checked it a few minutes ago and "processing is complete"

yup, you get your calculations. and yup, i would first calculate urself, (now) and make sure there are no mistakes. be sure to take quarter units into consideration if you were ever on quarter system
 
got the go ahead 9:30 am this morning. In total, it took about 2 business days.
 
Submitted on Friday. Verified today. There were a few mistakes on their part, but not a huge deal. I sent the corrections today , and I hope that only takes a couple of days!
 
Wait mistakes on their part? How is that possible? What kinds of mistakes are we talking about?
P.S: I submitted Mon morning and I just checked and it said "SUBMITTED to AMCAS-Under Review." That's a start I guess

Thanks Daydreamer. Oh so they obviously calculate the GPAs based on Semester system? Yes, Unfortunately I was on the good 'ol quarter system 🙂
 
On a side note...could you imagine being an AMCAS verifier? Seems like a super boring job.
 
How do you convert semester units to quarter units?

How the hell do you calculate GPA anyways? I never really knew.

Ex grades:

units grade
4.0 A
3.0 A
3.0 B-
2.0 C+

What GPA would that be?
 
Wait I thought it's quarter units to semester since we're calculating GPA based on Semester cuz that's what AMCAS does no? Gosh, what's up with us having to double check their work anyway. I trust them and with all the $$$ they charge us, they should be getting the job right 🙂

4x4=16
3x4=12
3x2.7=8.1
2x2.3=4.6
(A is a 4.0, B-is 2.7, C+ is 3.3)

Add those up=40.7
Divide that by the total number of units
40.7/12=3.392 GPA

And I think AMCAS has a guide on how many quarter units are equivalent to semester. Check the guide book
 
Hi! I submitted on the 11th and mine still says in line to be verified. They said they received my transcripts before the 11th. Is there something wrong? Has anyone else been waiting a week and a half so far????? I'm nervous now...

I'm sure you're reviewed now, but for others, no you don't get an e-mail when you go under review.
 
Yea there are ppl who submitted a couple days after already verified. My transcript was received before I submitted. So far its been 5 days for me and no verification, and not even under review yet. The system makes no sense.

Just checked my e-mail account and my application was verified today. I submitted my application on June 5th, and AMCAS received my final transcript on June 14th.

I'm just glad my application finally finished review, and the day before AMCAS is supposed to release them to the schools!
 
as of 1 hour ago i am ready for review. but i can'y stop thinking about the typo on one of my activities: tutor in physics, biology, and chemSITRY!!! will schools screen out my application for that? 😱

I have a question along these lines, I'm submitted, but my transcripts were not in yet. I mailed the requests about two weeks ago, and still they're not received. How long did it take your transcripts to arrive?
 
It didn't take that long for them to receive my transcripts but it took them awhile to post the receipt of them. Don't worry if it's only been two weeks, but if you're as neurotic as me, you can call your registrars office and ask when they were sent out. I believe it took around two and a half weeks from the time I requested my transcript to the time AMCAS posted the receipt of them. Hope this helps and good luck! 🙂

I sent my transcripts last monday priority mail and my amcas still says they haven't recieved it. Is this normal?

Yes this is normal, as I believe they say upon receipt it may take up to 10days to process your transcript.
 
All but one of my transcripts got there fast. The last one was pretty pokey. It took 10 business days from being received to being processed.

For those of you waiting for your transcripts:
I just called AMCAS this morning, and they told me that they do have lots of transcripts, including mine, but haven't just posted yet. I sent in my transcript on June 6th, so I guess they are receiving a massive flow of transcripts and are running a little behind. Hope this helps.

I requested mine about two weeks ago, and today they notified me they received the final one. Just waiting for verification. Not to big a deal as long as it doesn't take more than two weeks or so since I took the MCAT the 15th.
 
Yeah, it is definitely taking a while, most of mine got there almost two weeks before they went up, be patient everyone I'm sure they'll get to it. However, does anyone have any idea how long it is taking between the "waiting for review" stage and being sent at this point? 😕 Just trying to figure out when I might start getting my secondaries.
 
My last transcrpit was emailed June 6th by the school and just received a couple of hours ago. Don't despair, they will apparently eventually get to them.
 
Okay, so if we know 1 of our transcripts hasn't been received yet, should we spend the extra time working on fixing our application until it does? or does it put you ahead in the line if you turn in your app even before the transcript gets there?

I called AMCAS on the 20th and they said it was taking 1-2 weeks to verify. Hope this helps.

That's a better answer than I got on the 21st. They told me 4-6 weeks but some apps were moving "faster".

is this from the time after it is "submitted for review" or for the time after it goes "under review." ???
 
weird...i called AMCAS yesterday since my app went "under review" on thursday and they said once it goes under review they should have it verified usually within a few hours....still waiting. haha 😀

I'm a bit confused - is AMCAS verification separate from the transcript processing? For example, can my AMCAS be verified (but not sent out to schools) before my transcripts are fully processed? I ask because my PS and activities descriptions are ready, but my transcripts will probably take another 2 weeks.

EDIT: I just called and found out that it doesn't matter if I submit now because they won't review anything until my transcripts are in... and then it could be up to 6 weeks for verification!!! /me faints
 
How long is the wait these days for processing? I am going to submit mine next week.

According to the AMCAS verification thread, people who were verified today were under review at the end of June, which was about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I just called and the woman said it could take "up to 6 weeks".
