This thread will be a way to organize all of the existing posts about the secondary essays prompts that are out. If you have recieved a secondary, please post the essay questions here and then I will link your post to this list. The links I have included here as a starter have been taken from the Official 2008 Secondary Questions Thread and represent the secondaries that are currently out. This thread has some great information, but it won't be long before it will start approaching the 1000 post limit, so this will be a way to simplify and start fresh. To see the continuation of the original thread for general secondary discussions, visit The Official 2008 Secondary Discussion Thread Feel free to add more specific information if you have it. Thanks everyone!!!

Awesome, thank you! But is there a way to change the subject to have 2008 instead of 2007 so that people will know to read this thread?

I have applied to many of those schools but only received secondaries from Columbia, Meharry and GW. Is it because my AMCAS is not verified yet? or maybe they are too busy or something?

I don't believe UT-Memphis is out yet... I read the original post of who put that there and it sounds like they were referring to the "Yes, we have received your AMCAS; now you are under review for secondaries" email. I could be wrong though.

Anyone??

I was verified a couple of days ago and still haven't received some of these secondaries. What's up?

Should I be worried?

You've only been verified for a day or two? Don't be worried. It's still early.

Ditto. For some schools it takes weeks and weeks to receive anything. One good thing about SDN is that you can see if other applicants that were verified about the same time as you have started to get secondaries already. If others are getting them and you are not (within about the same time frame), then you could feel more justified in calling the school without feeling like a pest. But give it some time though. And keep in mind that the lag time may increase as the season moves on. The bad news is that as bad as the waiting may have seemed for your MCAT scores, or is seeming now for secondaries, it can get even worse waiting to become complete, waiting to get an interview invite, and then waiting to hear back after your interview. Or even worse ... waiting on a waitlist. It's a marathon buddy, but it is all worth it in the end. :)

omg, this thread is better than sliced bread

YAY!!!!!!! It's stickied!!! No more searching for it!!!

If anyone has the secondary prompts for Boston University, Tufts, Albert Einstein, Mt.Sinai, or NYU, could you please post them? Thanks so much!

If anyone has the secondary prompts for Boston University, Tufts, Albert Einstein, Mt.Sinai, or NYU, could you please post them? Thanks so much!

No essays for Albert Einstein, but there are a series of statements and if you check any of them you need to clearly explain why you checked it (e.g. if you took time off between high school and undergrad or undergrad and med school, if you aren't done with the pre-reqs yet, etc.).

Harvard is e-mailing an invite for a secondary.

Did you receive the Harvard secondary invite? Or are you saying that they will be sending by email?

I got an email from Iowa this morning. It said they are going to start screening and will send another email later with more info. Has anyone gotten a secondary from them?

thanks for the links, they're really helpful!

hi, could someone post instruction to edit the list? i wanted to add that Rochester doesn't have any essays

How did you get Rochester's? I got the first snail mail saying it was coming out soon, but nothing w/ a PW or user name, etc. Thanks!

Sorry I thought people had them already.

1. Please indicate what you are doing during the 2007-08 academic year. If in school, list courses. If working, let us know something about the nature of your job.

2. Please share with us something about yourself that is not addressed elsewhere in your application and which could be helpful to the Admissions Committee as we review your file.

Oh, so they did. My bad. :p I didn't know it was online. In any case, good luck to you!

Did you receive the Harvard secondary invite? Or are you saying that they will be sending by email?

I didn't get an invite yet. I had e-mailed admissions to ask.

Received an email invite this morning. A few optional essays, the rest are yes/no questions (and of course, a $100 bill)

The optional essays (10,000 character limit each) are:

Were you a full time undergraduate student during the 2007-2008 academic year? If not, please explain

Do you wish to include any comments, other than your AMCAS personal statement, to the Admissions Committee?

Were you ever the recipient of any action (e.g. dismissal, disqualification, suspension, etc.) by any college for unacceptable academic performance or conduct violations? If so, please explain

have people really gotten UCSD or simply the email notification saying they got their application? Seems to be a little confusion regarding that one, especially since their website hints that secondaries might be a little while.

I just received an email from Virginia Commonwealth saying that they have received my AMCAS and that it is under review. They screen before sending out secondaries, but I thought I'd let people know that there has been communication.

I know that Einstein has their secondary online, but their website says not to send it in until you have received an email acknowledging receipt of your AMCAS. I was wondering if anyone has received an email from them yet... I had been having some problems with my email before and was wondering if I might have missed it.

Thanks!

just 2 pages, readable font, typed, a "true personal statement" in their words

and what is on Harvards?

If it is anything like last year, I'd imagine no essays unless you are doing some sort of MD/PhD program thing.

When my friend applied last year she said there were no essays to the HMS NP app.

Here is the post by Carameldelite from last year's secondary thread regarding NP:

I think the Harvard description should be more detailed. Unlike the UPenn secondary which REALLY has no essays, Harvard does have an essay question for anyone who is not currently an undergrad:

If you have already graduated, briefly summarize your activities since graduation (4000 characters).

I don't know how to update the link, but whoever is willing to do it, go ahead and work your magic.

HST requires the following according to last year's thread :
