Does anybody have a list of the hotels that AZCOM has special rates with? Or do you know which hotels are close by??? PLease help, I need to be there Thursday and tomorrow Im flying down to bradenton so I dont have a lot of time to book a hotel

I'm going to stay at sleep inn North, its likes 10 min from campus, and they have a special discounted rate for car rentals...which definately is saving me money!!
 
Thanks, I actually just ended up using hotwire(highly recommend it) and booked the Crowne Plaza for $49! Its like 10 miles away.
 
I got a place 3 miles away (best western) for $50. Traffic is bad in rush hour and we have to get there at 7:45 so its not great to live too far away.
 
Anybody else interviewing at AZCOM this Thursday? My flight arrives around 8:45pm, so I thought maybe some other interviewees might want to get dinner or something. Also, where's everybody staying? I'll be at the Ramada Limited. I hope it isn't a dump. Hahaha
 
How far is the ramada limited from azcom? A bunch of azcom interviewees are staying there.
 
I think it's only like 5-10 minutes from the school.
 
My interview is the 28th, staying at the crowne plaza. How long are you staying in town? I wouldn't mind meeting up on thursday to get your input.
 
My flight out is at 6:15, so I'll probably be at the airport by 5ish, which means I'll probably head to the airport around 4ish. Unless you get in really early, I probably won't be able to meet up, but let me know.
 
I am interviewing Thursday as well. I am arriving late though. Seems like there is going to be a lot of sdn'rs there.

Quick question...

How long after you guys were complete were you offered interviews? How were you notified of an interview?
 
AZCOM notified me via e-mail and snail mail. Complete on 7/19 and I received the invite on 8/06. They seem to move quickly.
 
anyone else interviewing oct 22 at azcom? any good advice on cheap, still nice, hotels? planning on heading up the weekend before to check out the area. looking forward to traveling out to arizona and visiting the school. peace.

The Crowne Plaza was awesome and ran me $40 for the night.
 
thanks for the awesome advice...40-50 bucks a night definitely sounds doable to me. do you remember exactly where that hotel was located? i was just thinking there may be numerous ones in the area. thanks!

Crowne Plaza Phoenix near the Metro Center. Right off of rte 17! I got it using hotwire!
 
Did all of you book via Hotwire at the Park Plaza? When I called them it is $85 a night (of course it is in December and maybe the snowbirds increase the rate?) Any suggestions besides Hotwire?

Also, did the hotel shuttle you to Midwestern? Thanks!
 
I'm interviewing at AZCOM on Oct. 26 if anyone would like to share a room/car to save some costs. I'm a guy fwiw.

I arrive in Phoenix at 12:24pm on the 24th, interview at SOMA on the 25th, interview at AZCOM on the 26th, and leave at 3:00pm on the 27th.

Hey Toller, good luck on your interview! Let me know what your impressions was of AZCOM. Out of the 4 schools I interviewed at so far I may have to say that it's my current top choice.
 
I am anticipating my interview at AZCOM on Dec. 7th. Can I get some feedback from anyone who has gone to an interview. (I really liked this... and dis liked that... I wish I would have known .... )

Also for any students that have significant others going with you to med school

How was AZCOM impression to the spouse, did you get the impression they were their for both you and your spouse?

You can check out the interview feedback forum. There are posts from this years interview cycle there (I have posted one myself) that will answer those questions. As far as your spouse question goes, I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you ask if AZCOM is there for both you and your spouse. In what ways do you mean?

So are you set on AZCOM for sure?
 
I interviewed recently at AZCOM and got the impression that they are extremely family friendly and I would definitely not worry about it.
 
Just excited to interview. Hopefully see some people around then.

Not sure right now. My big worry with them is the increase in class size and the possible problems with third year clerkships. Did you consider anywhere else, or was this your one and only choice? Any nearby schools, like Mesa, Western, or TUCOM?

No, I've withdrawn everywhere else except UA (Arizona's in-state MD school). I want to stay in AZ and I think Midwestern is a great school. The class size increase does concern me but I am hopeful that they wont approve the increase unless they expand their options for rotations and have the resources to compensate for a larger class. Besides, I don't think your rotation situation is going to be ideal no matter what DO school you decide to attend. Granted, some schools are certainly better than others but going to a DO school isn't going to be like attending a school with millions more in funding and a University hospital within walking distance to do all your rotations.

Has anyone who interviewed on 10/24 heard back yet? I had a dream last night that I was accepted so I woke up all happy, but it was just a dream 🙁

i interviewed on 10/25 and nothing yet... patience, patience *sigh*
 
anyone who interviewed the week of 10-22 hear anything yet, if so was it by mail, email or online ?????????
 
Anyone who interviewed on the 23rd know anything yet? They said we could call 2 weeks after but I don't want to be a pest.
 
I just called the admissions office and I'm in! They look it up for you over the phone.

I interviewed 10/24 and haven't heard yet. I think they said two weeks, which would be tomorrow. I'm counting the minutes...!:luck:
 
Been complete around 10/30. Received invite today- complete around 10/30...excited to meet some of you there!

I'm a little intimidated by the past interview questions- seems like they ask a lot of silly and random "lets see how well he/she acts under pressure" types of questions (ie. if you could be any type of tree, which would you pick and why)...😕
 
Hey Guys, I just called AZCOM and I got in! Btw, First post!

Interviewed - 10/25
Accepted - 11/6(Although the wonderful lady on the phone told me the decision was made last friday, 11/2)

So around 2 weeks to decide just like they had said. Good luck to the rest of you guys and maybe ill see you there!😉

And theserbatron, i think i remember you from the interview, there was only one serb there haha, you should call and find out also!

hey what's up man... yeah, i still haven't bought that phone yet. got another month or so of saving up before i buy that bish in cash. i REFUSE to put it on my credit card.

i dunno about the interview, i'm nervous 'bout it to be honest. but i'm very happy for you, congratulations! i hope that we'll be class mates, we need to put those ping-pong tournament plans into action. and that big screen? my God.
