for those of you who interviewed late october and couldnt stand the wait (like me), call the admissions office... hopefully they'll bring you good news! 👍 good luck everyone!

Anyone interviewing on Wed, 12/5?
Also, approx. how many interviewees in one day?

Just got back from PCOM-GA and haven't prepared at all for this upcoming one...getting nervous 😕

Is the interview 3-on-1 or three separate interviews? It's listed both ways in the interview feedback. And is it open file or closed file?

In my interview, I had three people at the table interviewing me. One was a fourth year, another a DO, and the third a science professor. The interview lasted appx. 45 minutes. I believe it was semi open file, where they could see all my extracurriculars and stuff but not my grades or scores. I would prepare for anything though just in case. It was very laid back by the way. let me know if you need any add'l info.

and to answer a previous question, there were 16 interviewees the day I interviewed.

Thanks!! I was actually asking for my husband. His plane should be taking off for Phoenix in about 15 minutes. I will let him know once he calls me from the hotel. 😀

Don't be surprised if he decides to stay an extra week... the place is beautiful!

Ha! He better fly us out too then! He actually lived in Phoenix for maybe five + years when he was a kid. He has eight aunts and uncles, plus numerous cousins, etc. who live in the Phoenix area. We got to visit about five years ago and it was a beautiful place and the campus looks amazing too. :luck: for my husband who is interviewing today!!

I just had my interview there and, speaking as someone who has a foot of snow waiting for him at home, that idea is more than a little tempting to me as well. It really is a beautiful campus (outside the construction).

So my husband just called on his way back to the airport and he absolutely loved the school!! Now I'm just really nervous for him to find out if he will be accepted or not. Now both of us actually know what it's like to have to wait for a couple weeks after the interview. 😱

waiting is the absolute worst part, but I know LMU-DCOM got back to me within a week or so I think, and AZCOM was two weeks to the day, so you both should be hearing soon!

Yeah he said they told him two to three weeks so I was going to tell him to call at two weeks if he hasn't heard yet. DCOM does seem to be really great about getting back to people fairly quickly. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, why/how did you choose AZCOM over the other schools you were accepted to? Feel free to PM me if you would rather do that.

I just declined an acceptance at AZCOM.
Good luck to the rest of you hoping for an interview/acceptance at AZCOM.

EEL08:
Honestly, a huge factor for me was location. I loved all three schools I visited, but my husband is a teacher and we had to consider his career as well. WVSOM and DCOM are in rural areas, which would have made it difficult for him to find a job. AZ is desperate for teachers and there are a ton of elementary schools right in the area. In addition we love warm weather! I also like how AZCOM has such a high pass rate for the boards and I like the way they run the curriculum, I think it will fit my learning style well. Hope this helps a little!

Oh and definitely have your husband call in two weeks, that is how I found out. The letters take a lot longer.

Hey Hill,
I'm a first-year at AZCOM and my fiance is working with the Glendale School District as a teacher's aide, and starting his master's in secondary education at ASU in January. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or your husband has any questions about what it's like here, or what it's like to find a job!

Is it wrong of me to be jealous? 😉 Congrats!! Woo hoo!

its not! EEL if your husband gets accepted anywhere (or you do and husband hasn't been invited yet) i REALLYREALLY think that you should call and write about your situation.. i know this is a completely different school, but, Washington University in St. Louis (I know for sure) takes these things seriously into consideration.. so I wouldn't be surprised if any of the schools you applied to did also..

eta. I know it was wrong of me to be disappointed when I opened my email this morning.. but i was REALLY hoping it was from MWU Chicago instead of AZ 🙁..

We're going to see what happens but I'm definitely open to mentioning that because I know schools want to interview/accept students who will matriculate there. I plan on sending AZCOM a letter of interest but I've gotten so bogged down in school and finals that I won't be able to until tomorrow.

I understand why you were disappointed that it wasn't from Chicago. You have very good and important reasons for wanting to stay there. I think CCOM just wants to make sure that you get other interviews first so by the time they invite you you'll be a pro and blow them out of the water. Then they'll have no choice but to accept you. 😀

Oh and on another jealous note. My husband said that when he interviewed at AZCOM three people didn't show up for their interviews. I was like I would have showed up and I would have given my best, I should have gotten one of those spots! I can't help it, I really like AZCOM. 😳

haha i really hope that is right!! 😀😛

wow that really sucks that people don't even call and let them know.. i really do hope that you will be able to hear from them! :luck::luck:

Yeah, this happened on my interview day too. It was someone from Pre-Osteo! 😱

I'm scheduled to interview at AZCOM but I'm not sure if I want to go there. Those who have interviewed already, what impressed you about the school? Faculty, curriculum, campus, area...? Is it better than NSU?

If you don't want to go would you mind telling them to give me your spot instead? 😉

all of the above

My husband just got accepted today!! He is ecstatic!! 😀

P.S. Now if they would just get me off the pre-interview waitlist and give me an interview!!

I agree, every aspect of the school impressed me. If you happen to interview with Dr. Cole he is the ex-dean of the medical school and can give address virtually any issues you have with the school. He also confirmed that the class of 2012 will have 250 medical students in their class.

He very confidently addressed all the clinicals worries I had regarding the school and it is without a doubt my number one choice of a school. I just felt I clicked with them, goes nicely with the acceptance I got today from them! 🙂

I interviewed this past Monday, was a quick turn around. Cheers to the AZCOM Class of 2012!

I interviewed this past Monday also! Didnt they say give them two weeks?? lol How did you hear from them, email...phone...postal mail??

Yea I interviewed this past Monday too :scared: Seemed like ppl got acceptance phone calls from the office all at once?? Guess we gotta call them up on Monday to see. Goodluck!

I got a phone call early in the morning from the admissions office. I didn't actual receive the call it was on my voicemail (shucks). The person from the admissions office said we would still be getting a letter in the mail regarding matriculation, etc.

She told us that decision could be made (at the latest) the 21st of this month. Right before the holidays. Good luck!

they told me friday when i was in the office that they were working hard all day trying to call anyone that was accepted but that they were not sure they would get to everyone (i was first to be called because i go there right now).

I got the acceptance phone call Friday morning, interviewed there on 12/5. I'm psyched since this was my first acceptance, and I really got a great feel from the school and the students there.

For those of you looking for feedback from those who interviewed, I was really impressed. While some are disappointed with the fact that they did away with the 1st year preceptor program, their curriculum's strength speaks for itself (they have the 2nd highest pass rate on the boards...and according to the dean who gave the presentation, 85% get their first choice residency...about 95% get their 1st or second, this was very impressive to me). Also, they have an on-campus clinic which they said is going to give 1st years the opportunity to get some clinical time there. I also really am looking forward to the new facilities currently being built (new recreation facility, labs, lecture halls etc), which are supposed to be finished for fall 2008.

I interviewed at an MD school back in October, and quite frankly I got a much better feel from AZCOM. Best of luck to the rest of you!

I also int 12/5 and got the call from Heather on Friday.

For those with future interviews, RELAX. Going into the interview I was super nervous from reading SDN threads and past interview questions but the interview was a lot more laid back than what I expected. I was asked a LOT of questions, which I wrote down afterwards for you guys (Why AZCOM/Medicine, Describe the most memorable patient/clinic encounter, Has a doctor negatively influenced you in any way, Have I ever struggled to pass a course and what did I do about it, how do i study, Why not get a PHD, what is one neg thing your friends would say about you, what is one cultural advice I could give to them (interviewers) that I learned when dealing with patients?)

The only thing holding me back from this school is the exhorbitant cost!!

Anyone else who interviewed on 12/3 hear back yet? I just called and I've been accepted! :]

🙁 Guys I called and have been placed on the alternate list. Does anyone know how likely they are called and when that starts happening? I thought the interview went fine and everything...guess not...

I got waitlisted too! 😱 I also thought my interview went well too but nope. I am just hoping with the meeting this week for the approval of the 250 students, they will start picking us off this list, at least I hope so. Goodluck tho!

Thanks KnockoutMice. Let's hope that's the case. What date did you interview? Anybody else out there got waitlisted as well? Just wondering what's the percentage of acceptance/waitlist.

I think KnockoutMice interviewed on 12/10. I am not sure about the waitlist.

is there any way to reschedule my interview? Mine is 2.27 and I think I should do it sooner.. only problem is I will be out of the country between 1.31 and 2.20... and there wasn't anything open when I scheduled that didn't conflict with that..

Not sure if there will be too many interviews before 1/31? Call admissions and check. They will tell you better then anyone on here!

Anyone interviewing on 2/25/08. It would be nice to know where others are staying so maybe we can split a cab or something. Thanks

I'm a female interviewing with AZCOM on Friday, Feb. 29. I'll probably fly in the day before on Thursday, Feb. 28 and fly back out Friday evening.

Anybody else interviewing on that day that would be willing to split a room/cab/car rental?

Where's the most affordable place to stay and cheapest car rental?

idk, my friend was telling me that AZ airport is the most expensive car rental place in the country due to the taxes involved.
