OK, I don't usually make a lot of threads, but I had too much caffeine and if this thread is annoying I'll delete it. I just had a revelation. Since I'm not shy about sharing my stats, even when they are low, I will tell you what I was thinking.

SAT: 1270
MCAT: 27

Interesting, huh? I wonder if that's a secret way to figure out what your mcat score will be?

Another example could be SAT: 1320, MCAT: 32

Seems like this could be a real correlation! Anyone else have similar findings?

SAT: 1220 (didn't study a damned bit...probably should have)
MCAT: 30

There's a zero in them thar scores. That's about all the correlation I can see. I'm still waiting for my super duper score. We all get one, right!?! Hopefully it'll be my USMLE!

Someone should throw these on a scatterplot and post the image! That would be cool. At least it would appear productive. :D

Um, there sure as hell isn't a correlation w/ my scores. I got a 1420 on the SAT, but I sure didn't get a 14, 42, or 20 on the MCAT. That 42 would have been sweeeeet!! :)

SAT: 1600
MCAT: 37

No correlation there, except they're both high. But it doesn't help too much with admissions, for college or med school.

Not much correlation IMHO, simply because they're two totally different exams, but I'll play.

SAT 1: 1500 (760V/740M)
MCAT: 32

Papa,

Did you have the pleasure of living in the Honors dorms here at UF? I was admitted into the program after my 1st semester, and let me tell ya... Some of those people... A guy tried to convince me that he needed a chip inserted into his spinal column to allow his synaptic junctures to keep up with his mental processing!

Talk about a tool box!

I was the resident idiot with my 1220. I got the hell out of there pronto! Oh well, I digress.

I suppose this is irrelevant to the topic of SAT scores, but I got the same score on both the ACT and the MCAT....that was kinda weird. :p

•••••Swamp, that "tool box" you refer to is our dear Papa smurf. Please try not to berate him for his "unorthodox" ideas. He's a butterfly. --Trek

The only good thing about them was that they were close to the Reitz Union. Other than that, it sucked living there. Some of the peeps on my floor were cool and all (My RA was pretty cool), but others were just plain weird. They're building some new honors dorms off Museum drive aren't they? Supposedly they're supposed to be high tech, state of the art. That's how they're gonna try and recruit the best and the brightest out of the state. It'll be interesting to see if it works. Yeah, on campus housing at UF sucks. But afternoon traffic, RTS, and Park and Ride ain't much fun either. Oh well, just another reason I'm not gonna miss G'ville TOO much.

SAT : 1200
MCAT : not taken yet, but I best not get a 12!
wouldn't mind 12x3 = 36 :)

Lord have mercy out own Papa Smurf is an SAT guru. way to knock it bro. why'd you go to UF with that score? you shoulda gone IVY jigga! i'd've been outta this state like a crackhead on speed (ALLGGHHHGGHGHGGGHHH--flaling my arms around all the way to new england)

Ok here goes

SAT 1270
MCAT 31

By the way I think that Foxy has a point.

They are both standardized tests.
think about it

OK so far no one has the correlation that I was looking for. I didn't mean to ask if people with high SAT scores had high MCATs, just wondering if the 2 middle numbers of your SATs were your MCAT score. I thought it was funny. Guess for now I'm the only one. :p

Especially since the med school has dissed me so badly. Actually, there are a hell of a lot of people here with those kinda scores. I know of 3 people here with 1600's. All with 40+'s on their MCAT's, I believe. I had offers at better schools, NU, U of C, Hopkins, but I just didn't get the vibe that I'd fit in at those places. I've heard horror stories about the competitive atmosphere at those schools. I think I stayed cause I liked the atmosphere, the weather, not to mention the fact tuition here is a drop in the bucket in comparison to some of those other schools. Also, a lot of my friends were coming here, so that kinda influenced my decision a bit. I figured I'd try to go IVY for med school. That worked out real well as you can see! No, I'm not bitter!

1480
37

I wish I would have gotten a 48 on the MCAT :) .

this has become somethign better than foxy envisioned. it has become (pum, pum, pummmm) --an exhibition. i love exhibitions. :p

Me:
SAT - 1450
MCAT - 35 (obviously needed a 45)

SAT- 1250 :p
MCAT- 35

I would take a better MCAT any day of the week and twice on Saturday! SATs are for losers!

Sincerely,
Mr. 4.0

•••quote:•••(ALLGGHHHGGHGHGGGHHH--flaling my arms around all the way to new england) ••••I think that is just about the funniest image I have ever taken away from SDN. Run, Caveman, RUN!!!!

Hey Foxy, I got pretty close:
1310
30

I guess I could have studied for the MCAT a little more and gotten the 31. :) I think there might be a correlation, but not the middle two numbers or anything like that. (if you get a 1600, you still can't get a 60 MCAT!)

SAT 1280
MCAT 29

I was close to having the correlation....

My premed advisor has said several times that those who do well on the SATs also do well on the MCAT, because performance is partly an indication of how well you take standardized tests. After I took the MCAT, I didn't believe that at all. :D

Anyway, SAT score was 1440...and I sure as heck did NOT get a 44!!!!

Damn, 3 people on here have 1600's. Has anyone ever gotten a 43-45 on the MCAT? Surely there must have been at least one person. Highest I know of is a 42, at UMiami on a full scholarship.

My stuff:
1340 SAT
32 ACT
32 MCAT

Looks like maybe we should check people's ACT scores (if they took them) as well as SAT's. Seems like there is a better chance that they will be the same. :D

Foxy,

Your schema seems to work for me !

SAT: 1320
MCAT: AVG 32.5 (29, 34)

OMG!

maybe i should have studied harder for my SATs!

i know someone who busted a 45 MCAT, but it sure wasn't me!

SAT: 1510
MCAT: 30

51 would have been nice, Foxy!! :D

Wow! Look at all those 1600's!!!

mpp, are you doing this correlation for us?

I know two of my friends here at Duke got a 41 and 42 (I consider them both to be among the smartest I know). I also met an upperclassmen my freshmen year who scored the magic 45. Genius. I hate those guys.

doesn't seem to correlate for me
SAT: 1440
MCAT:31

Figured I would see if i could hold onto the lowest SAT on the post:
hope this doesn't skew all the stats:

SAT 1060
MCAT 29--the damn score should have been 31...they robbed me

•Can you translate an ACT score into a SAT score, I never took the SAT.•••••Hold that thought. I will do a little research. I love all the free time in the lab. Boy, I will miss it next year. :)

SAT: 1370
MCAT: 38Q (G I Joseph, if only I wrote as well as you...)

here's a link to the 1997 ACT score distribution. I figured we should use this one, since we all probably took it around that time. The data isn't much different from the 2001 data. I will look for similar SAT data so we can compare the two

SAT:1270
MCAT:29
ACT:30
looks like I fell appropriately in the middle.

SAT: 1530
MCAT: 37-39

Too bad my GPA sucks... :p

I had a high ACT and a high SAT, but I had a crummy MCAT score. I guess that there is no correlation for me.

SAT: 1240 (no prep course, no studying...i don't know what i was thinking back then or how my parents let me get away with it!)

MCAT: 33R

Here's some SAT info. Verbal scores can be found here and Math scores can be found here. This data is from 1998.

Has anyone here heard that your ACT score is a good predictor of your MCAT score +/-2. That definitely applies to me. Anyone else?

Ummm... yeah.

I didn't know you were supposed to STUDY for the SAT :p Took it c-o-l-d (prep course, whats that?!?!?! ) I've led a sheltered life

SAT 1290 (630V, 660M)
MCAT 37

it guess it really does pay to study!

And remember..it's not only your GPA that sucks...
I'll ask j-man who else sucks :)

Took the SAT three times: 1400, 1430, 1450.

I hope that means I'll get 43-45, but I'll settle for a 40. :p
