I can't remember where I found this, but I was going through my bookmarks tonight and found a link through ABPP to the National Exam Scores for all Doctoral programs.

I haven't read through it from front to back, but I poked around the tables in the back to check out the various scores of programs. Obviously these scores are not the end all and be all because most people just study enough to pass, but some interesting data none the less.

Two that stuck out....U of Maine 170! U of Minn (child): 167.8.

just looking at the programs I applied to, when I applied I thought they were all approx. equal emphasis, but after interviewing, I saw that that was not the case. I thought it was interesting that the ones that turned out to be mostly clinical and the ones that are mostly research all have about the same score, which is mid 150's. The research oriented one's, tho, had a smaller SD over all.

I know school psych. and less clinical programs typically score lower, but I was a bit surprised by the range. (Not a knock on those programs, they just have a diff. focus than the exam, which is much more clinically related).

I think I saw 116ish up to 170ish...which is a HUGE range; obviously N is a factor. There are also some large SD's in there (23-25+).

I should probably know this, but what is the cutoff for passing? I couldn't find it on there.

I actually found the opposite trend. I only looked at FL since I don't have much time right now, but the 3 highest scores are at 3 pretty research-focused programs (UF, USF, and UM). Well, UF is actually pretty well-balanced, but it definitely focuses more on research than many of the other schools in FL.

BTW T4C, noticed U Penn also had an average of 170.7.

Anyone want to put these in SPSS and regress exam scores on acceptance rates😉
I'll shut up now.

I saw that, but was feeling lazy and I didn't update my post. 😀

Knock yourself out! I read something about requesting data, I think it was $70 to be mailed the info (not sure that includes the electronic raw data, or just a hardcopy of everything).

Generally, a 70% is considered passing (140).

That's what I've heard too....which makes you wonder about AVERAGES <140.

UF has a fairly impressive faculty compared to the other universities in Florida.
I'd agree that the UF faculty is probably the top faculty in the state. I don't know of them that well, outside of the Neuro people, who are definitely some of the bigger names in the field.

Thanks Jon.

And that it does (though I like to think we're doing pretty well here too, at least in certain areas🙂 ). UF without a doubt though has an incredibly impressive list of both core faculty, and affiliated.

My point was just that it is kind of known for being very good at both compared to what people typically think of as a research university (e.g. Yale) so it might not be the best example as it is more of an exception rather than the rule.

I agree; let's keep talking about how awesome UF is 😀

I don't know where you're at, but I assume it is at one of. . .

University of Central Florida
University of South Florida
Florida State
Univeristy of Miami.

These are all good programs. Being a neuro-guy, I am partial to UF, that's all.

I'm at USF but I was actually just kidding around about that. I'm quite happy with my decision to come here so no insecurities on my part regarding that🙂
