Ok, so by now all of the us that applied to direct-entry programs should have gotten our lettters. What colleges did you guys get into and which one have you ultimately decided on?

For those already in 0-6 year programs. How is it going?

I got into: USP, Rutgers, Northeastern, and Duquesne.
I'm pretty sure that im going to Rutgers.

congrats! I'm still a junior so I'll be doing that next year. Just curious, what are your stats and ec's? Did you have previous pharmacy experience like volunteering and job shadows?

No I didnt do any pharmacy experience unfortunately.

Lets see, I go to Union County Magnet HS which is one of the best high schools in the country. I have a QPA of 92 (we dont go by GPA). I took AP Chem, AP Bio, Prob/Stats, and AP calc, which look good on a transcript.

Just a hint for you. Do really well in ur science classes. This beats everything from extra curriculars to ACT/SAT. Most 0-6 yr pharm schools are transcript schools which mean that they care about ur transcript.

USP's app had like 5 lines for every award/honor/extra-curricular/ that you won or did. LOL.

I have two more questions. Did you have interviews at the schools you applied to or do you just send in an application? I live on the west coast and want to apply to some east coast schools. Also, did you apply to the school first and then the program, or did you apply directly into the program?

There are no interviews. Just send in the applications. And by the way def. apply to Uni. of Pacific. They have 0-6 yr pharmacy, but you have to apply early action. Make sure you do that. Its one of the only ones on the West coast.

Also there is an option for the specific school you want to go to. I applied only to the Pharmacy school, so yea you just apply directly into the program.

Hi everyone! I'm a new member of the forum and i'm really interested in the 6-year pharmacy program. I just have a question. I am an international student. I attend high school in America from the second semester of my freshman year. My most worry is that even though i do really good in my math and science classes, (I'm currently taking AP chem) my SAT score is very low. I don't know if i still have a shot at getting into those 6-year pharmacy schools. I would really appreciate if someone can help me!!!!!

heyy girl 🙂 i'm a senior in high school, and will be attending an 0-6 pharmacy program next fall in St. Louis CoP. LOVE to help... so, what's your GPA? what's your SAT score? did you take the ACT yet? and what other AP and or IB classes are you currently taking?

because we're high school students pharmacy experience doesn't really apply to us. so i wouldn't stress over it, if you are okay  then again... i'd STILL recommend you atleast try to shadow an independant pharmacist and or volunteer at your local hospital[pharmacy department if possible], not only to get a feel for the profession in 2 different settings. but, to also stand out a bit from OTHER high schoolers, who are NOT! applying to the same schools, you know 😉

ALSO leadership crap like student body president, national honor society member[NHS] and such's a definite PLUS, not to mention you can speak and or speaks foriegn language 👍 anyway... hope this helped, best of luck! and merry christmas to you and yours 😀

Hi I'm very interested in the 6-year Pharmacy program at Rutgers. I heard it's very competitive. I called them to find out what the SAT scores should be, class rank, etc, but the guy that talked to me didn't help that much haha
So far these are the classes that I have (I'm a junior):

Freshman Year:
Honors English
Honors Lab Biology
Introduction to Computer Applications
Spanish II
Geometry
History (not honors)

Sophomore Year:
Honors English
Honors Chemistry
Spanish III
Honors Algebra II
Honors Computer Applications
History (not honors)

Junior Year:
Honors English
Honors Physics
AP Chemistry
Honors Spanish IV
Honors Precalculus
History (not honors)

Senior Year, I'm planning on taking:
Honors English
AP Biology
Art (I have to take art in order to graduate)
AP Calculus
AP Psychology
AP Spanish

Extra-Curricular: Taekwondo & Dance for over 5 years
Member of NHS
Intership at software company, 2 summers

Rank: Top 7%

My SAT scores weren't that good. I'm taking classes, so they'll improve.

Do I have a chance for Rutgers?
Thank you so much for your help! =)

SATs are pretty important. Do well on them.

looking good so far 🙂 but, as i mentioned previously... try to shadow an independant pharmacist and or volunteer in your local hospital[pharmacy department, if possible], just to stand out a little more from other high schoolers, eh? 😉 no, it's not required. but, a definite plus in my opinion. 👍 anyway... best of luck next year lali and merry christmas to you as well 😀

Hi SmKN808!!! thank you so so much for replying my post! I came to America and took only half of my freshman year here so Honors Algebra 1 was the only honors i could get into. My sophomore year i got into Honors Chemistry Honors Biology and Honors Geometry other classes are just regular. And now i'm currently taking AP Chem and Honors Algebre 2 and my weighted GPA is about 4.3. I'm a NHS member and secretary of my book club, and I'm in my school's advance vocal ensemble. However, it's so hard for me to get a good score on the SAT. To be honest, i only got a 1600 and I know how low this score is. Therefore, i'm really worried. My parents were really upset about this, so I really don't know what to do. I try really hard for this but since English is not my first language, I could not go any further. I really hope you can give me some advice. I would truly appreciate it!!!

heyy nat ^ ^ and sorry for my late reply 😳 been busy with family and friends these last few days. anyway... i'd recommend this--> http://www.tutor.com/ well worth the $35 and has done wonders for me in both my ap chem/physics classes. so, i don't see why it won't for you. you can also pick and choose your tutors if you're not satisfied with the current one or even one that speaks your native tongue to make an easier transition considering.

Thank you so much for your reply! i'll try considering the website. Oh and one more question. So do u mean that doing well in math and science classes is the most important thing to get into those 6-year pharmacy school???

no problem nat 🙂 i'd say yes! AND your english class too. which i HATE, by the way[AP comp lang/lit]. 🙄 but, i'll manage[borderline A/B-ish]. 😉

gosh, after re-reading my previous comment. i've just realised that i forgot to mention that the tutor link i recommended is in reference to help better your SAT score as you already know what area you need to improve on. any way... good luck! with that nat and happy new year also hun 😀

For international students, the SATs arent too important. One of my roommates did horrible on the SATs. I think having the international student on the resume more than makes up for any SAT score.
