New PT programs - does anyone know the status?

Apparently, two new PT programs are starting in the Phoenix, AZ metro area. Franklin Pierce Univ. says they may be starting as early as Dec. 2008, but I couldn't find any information about Midwestern Univ. in Glendale. Has anyone applied to these or know official start dates?
Just curious.

Btw.. for many out there asking about salary, I work with a new-grad who is picking up hours in home health for $70+ per hour. She loves it. Great autonomy, challenging work. Hearing her talk about it has me interested.

There really don't need to be any more PT Programs IMO. Until things across all programs become standardized, and everything is taught in the same manner (or as close to as possible), the amount of programs in the US is more than sufficient.

I know this has nothing to do with your post--but it was jsut a thougth that popped up in my mind.

I'm excited to see this happen because there is a shortage of PTs (at least in the Southwest) and very few new academic programs starting to accommodate for demand.

There are about a dozen schools in CA, so I don't really think we need anymore. I had no idea there was a shortage in the Southwest, with this many schools offering programs.

The Franklin Pierce program to me looks pretty new, so I am assuming they are not as established as other programs in the area. The problem you might run into later on is finding good clinical experience because the program is so new and not established in the area and other schools have priority over this school for those positions.

In general, I just don't like schools that have so many satellite campuses and offer degrees when their campus is like 1500 miles away. Those schools just never seem legitimate to me and look as if they are trying to make a quick buck. I am pretty sure they are 100% legitimate, but I guess I just prefer a school with one big campus, but this is something that can be debated elsewhere and is very subjective.

To my knowledge, neither Franklin Pierce nor Midwestern have a full-time director yet (December 2008). Touro University Nevada in Henderson does have a director (me) and is accepting applications for a July 2009 inaugural class for DPT.

I thought Franklin Pierce and U.V. the only two schools offering a DPT in the NH/VT area? I'd be open to having another option in either state...
