i just got a call from a friend who said that they are ending all IDPs.....i told her its a rumor but i just wanted to confirm and plz this time do reply to my question u guys

I agree wid ur assessment .... Its def a rumour ..... Its not in ADA's own benefit .... they can't just suddenly shut down all FTD's coming 2 USA.
Just think of d revenue that these programees bring to them .....

People pay huge amount of money (200 - 300 K) to do such courses .... Nearly 400 IDP seats per year .... SO u can imagine d amount of money they'd loose out.

Plus they'd loose out on d workforce of dentists that they generate pre year ....

I think, At d most what would happen is they'd change d eligibility examination ...or put in some new regulations ... Hopefully some news will be posted by ADA pretty soon. I don't think its in anyone's benefit 2 let their mind run wild & get affected by such rumours. We should be concentrating on d work at hand ..... Afterall what ADA decides is totally out of our hand.
So Be positive (its in my blood .... B+ 😀) & look ahead people 👍

In any case, it is just a rumor. I agree w/ Ashu 75.

well its a public forum to discuss ppl's concerns right? i just wanted to make sure im not misguiding my friend. i strongly believe that sdn is the right place for sorting out misconceptions........so please dont tell me what i cant do!!! again nothing personal here

With people losing jobs and there by insurance, they will turn to (have to) cheaper options. Schools provide service at a decreased fee.
More patients= more revenue. So helps to have more students right?

Incision and Acrylic you are both right! 😀

As of today, I have heard nothing along this line. I cannot speak for each individual school's program, but at Loma Linda we have no plans to discontinue our program.

Acrylic,
I don't want to be elaborate but what your friends said is definitely a rumor. They will never shutdown the FTD program but might toughen the rules/requirements to get in. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers🙂

thanks everyone

this may be true for only perticular school but not for all

I know one school Temple university they had program for international dentist but they only gave admission for two year they they closed the program

about Temple
the had admission this year

ok guys stop panicking go and study hard
there is no point of spreading information that is not checked yet

have fun

we r nt stopping with IDP program as for now

thanx for information I heard from some one that temple restarted the program for international dentist but I was not sure at that time

not the case at loma linda
idp here is alive and well

My school closed the program, but I think is an isolated case. It is a public school(Buffalo) that doesn't need the money..but the privates do, so don't worry about it.

So there will not be an international dentist program in Buffalo anymore?:scared:
At the website it says that information regarding the program will be posted this summer.
