Wolverine,
You are going to get a good education no matter where you go, especially if you put forth the effort to really learn, not just pass tests.
The important thing is that you choose the school where you feel the biggest connection. In the long run, the tuition isn't going to make a huge difference if you're on student loans because you're going to be paying through your nose forever anyway. So pick the place where you'll be the happiest.
I chose UHS for several reasons. First and most importantly, I fell in love with the people when I interviewed here. Everyone, from the faculty to the students to the maintenance people, were extremely friendly and helpful. This really carries over as well into the overall learning experience. The instructors bend over backwards to make sure we are going to be successful.
Second, I wanted to be in a city. I like the nightlife, museums, restaurants, etc. when I get the chance to enjoy it.
Third, I really liked the idea of the "Genesis Curriculum." This is the systems-based approach that UHS uses...we take each major system and learn its associated disease processes, pharmacology, biochemistry, clinical presentation, pathology, etc. To me...it just makes sense. And that was reflected in our board pass rates...don't remember the number now, but it was something like 97%.
So, for me, UHS was my first choice. But again, you have to pick the place where you feel the most comfortable. You'll get a good education no matter where you are.
Hope this helps!
Tammy
