What's up with ASDOH?

My first interview was at ASDOH in the middle of December and I haven't heard anything back except a "still under consideration" letter a few weeks after the interview. I had been considering that an almost certain rejection (especially considering my interview was terrible and I threw the pegs all over the place during the peg test), but at predents.com, it looks like 75% of interviewees haven't heard anything either. Does anyone know how ASDOH works? Do they send out a bunch of acceptances towards the end of the cycle?
 
wow ... if you havent heard anything with your stats I should just consider myself out of luck ... I interviewed on Oct. 30 and have only heard what youve heard. I wish you the best of luck!
 
Don't forget my terrible, terrible, interview. Besides, you clearly have something going for you with your five acceptances!

IIRC, ~1 in 7 get accepted POST interview. :-(
& there's a lot of people in the top group.

I also asked how many people they interview and how many they accept. The Doc was hesitant to ask because she said I didn't want to know, it was that bad...

It was my first interview, so I know it wasn't my best. Which kind of sucks since I liked the school so much... but there are other schools I liked too. Good luck to all of you... hopefully you get accepted somewhere, even if it's not ASDOH!

i think it was in one of doc toothache's stats posts. i'm a little busy right now, otherwise i'd look it up for ya. congrats on your acceptances btw! none for me so far. 🙁
 
Has anyone heard anything recently or in the past couple of weeks?

I have been expecting the rejection letter to come for a while now ...
 
Me and 2 buddies of mine interviewed there back in OCTOBER and none of us have heard ANYTHING yet. Not that we care, we are already got into our 1st choice schools that are much better programs than ASDOH.
It kind of bugs me though that they have that many pre-dents fly in and spend a couple hundred bucks a piece when they aren't even serious/interested in you. If you are a descent applicant I think they must know that you would be stupid to go there when you can go to a much better program and pay half the price.
I have been told by quite a few people who are on the academic side of dentistry to stay clear of that school though.
Nevertheless, they did have good sandwiches and cookies at the interview😉

Dental schools interview a lot of people for a limited number of spots....that's just how the interview process works. And you sound bitter about not being accepted. You got into dental school anyway so stop talking trash.
 
Im curious because ASDOH remains my top choice ... I dont know what dentaldudecal is talking about ... congrats buddy ASDOH is a great school

There have been several new people in the past few weeks on the ASDOH facebook page who have been recently accepted. I'm not sure when exactly they interviewed but I know one guy was from the waitlist.
 
I interviewed in September! No response yet.

I guess I interviewed at 9schools tho...

1 acceptance
5 rejections
2 wait list
1 (ASDOH) no response

Bro of course I am bitter, it's like asking a smokin' hot girl out and then she tells you she will get back to you, and then she never calls you back.🙂 In reality, I think that school is doing some good things for the Arizona community and all the students there seem happy. From your profile it appears you are an Arizona resident and therefore excited about the program that's located in your own backyard, so naturally you are optimistic about the program. However, it is still a fairly underdeveloped program so some of the negative that I have heard and experienced does not surprise me, hopefully they will get their act together in the coming years. Congrats on your acceptance though, your hard work has paid off and like I said, all the students seem to be happy there so I am sure it will be a good experience for you.

Hey, if they would offer to serve me breakfast and lunch everyday with the little food cart like they did in the interview, I'd sign up right now! Seriously, those little sandwiches were by far the best out of any other school I interviewed at.👍

Fair enough. However I respectfully disagree in regard to you comment about the program being underdeveloped. They opened in 2003, and are about to graduate their third class. They already have an ortho residency as well as an AEGD residency. In addition to their on campus clinic, they opened up a six chair clinic in the west valley, which is also complete with 140K wheel chair lift. They are also unique in that they require 4th year rotations at clinics across the nation. I heard a lot of negative comments when they first opened, but for a program that's only been open for about 5 1/2 years, I think they're kicking ass!

<sigh> -- I had an AWESOME time at ASDOH and received a great education. Did far more clinical work that any other dental students I know. I'm a post-grad at Stony Brook right now, and they do no endo, no OMFS, etc. Those who are interested can do a couple endos and hold the suction for an OMFS resident. Not a great education in my opinion. I did so much work at my clinical rotations in dental school that I felt ready to roll right out of dental school.

ASDOH is a chill school that gives you a great education. They are cheaper schools, but you shouldn't have to go through dental school with high amounts of stress. My experience was relatively stress-free and I (and my family) had a wonderful time!
 
I checked my AADSAS and my status for ASDOH changed to "wait listed"

I emailed them a few days ago, and was told that the class is completely full and now they are working on those who will be alternates. Good luck guys.
 
I then received a letter in the mail dated March 27 stating that I was offered a spot on the waitlist. And to return a sheet saying I wish to be placed on the waitlist. I won't be sending that in though...

Is anyone still hoping to get accepted to ASDOH?

I meant that AFdentalgirl's status change to waitlist was a good thing, since not everyone got that. Sorry, I know that was unclear.
 
Does anybody know how many people get waitlisted and how many people off that list get in from year's past? Thanks!
 
also, AFdentalgirl, are saying you don't want to be considered for the waitlist then? I am definitely hoping to get into ASDOH and sent the letter back, so if anyone has any more info on the waitlist, that would be great!
 
That's correct... I am not sending the wait list letter back because I'm already making a decision between the schools I was already accepted to! Hopefully you get in!!! 🙂

Was this addressed to me? If so, sadly, I cannot... It was really hard, but I did turn down my acceptance a couple months ago. I loved the school and Boston but would rather stay at a school on the west side of the US...

Ahh.. I see.. Tufts should be fun times 🙂

But I go to UW for undergrad and am about ready to experience something new... I'm about 95% sure I'm going to UNLV...

Thanks AFdentalgirl, i hope you enjoy UNLV, nothing wrong with being a stones throw away from the strip! Anybody else get the waitlist letter?
