Hi all
I'm currently looking for an online physiology course. All the schools around me have anatomy and physiology. And Ive already taken Comparative anatomy and I really don't want to have to take it again until vet school. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can possibly take one that is approved by western University? Also if you do details regarding proctoring?

as i was looking at oregon state's e-campus courses, i came across an animal physiology. it's an animal science online course (ANS 314). not sure if it's what you are looking for, but thought i'd suggest looking into it anyway. 🙂

Breyer State has an online course that isn't very difficult. It is self-paced for the most part, which was a huge plus for me since I was doing it over the beginning of summer and didn't want it to drag out too long.

I did the UC Berkeley Extension School online human phys class. You'd have to check with Western about whether they'd accept it or not, but Oregon State took it no problem. It was a pretty easy course, self-paced, you have 6 months to complete it. There are worksheets you fill out for each "unit" and review quizzes that are all open-book open-note. You also have to a little "research report" for each unit, which is basically just finding an article online and writing a summary about it. There is a final that has to be proctored. I took mine at a local university and it wasn't too hard. It had a three hour time limit but only took about half that to complete.

I will say that self-paced was not good for me because I was busy and it was hard to motivate myself to study so it took me nearly the entire time. It could easily be completed in 3 months if you kept yourself on a schedule.

I don't think this course is accepted any longer... something about being a diploma mill or what-not... hang on, let me find the thread lol.

ETA:

Here it is. Looks like Oregon might still accept it, but it might be a big enough pain that you would want to look elsewhere.

University of New England also has one, but I wouldn't take it unless it was your only choice. It was a pretty miserable experience for me...(although I was admittedly the course's first student, so they might work out some of the issues I had in the future.)

So Oregon State will accept it (least they did when I asked them) BUT, turns out if you are an Oregon resident (and list an Oregon address) when filling out the "application" then you can't take it b/c the university isn't approved by Oregon or something weird. Might be true of a few other states too, I'm not sure.

Well I don't think that since Breyer State isn't accredited I don't think it would be wise for me to take the course. Now, do anyone know of a physiology course that may be a bit more lenient than UCA Extension?

I checked the Western Pre-Req site and they say they'll take ANS 314 from Oregon State. Looked on Oregon's ECampus site and there's going to be a class over the summer. Very helpful ... thanks all!

HI

I actually teach an online physiology course offered through West Virginia University. I ran it for the first time last summer, mostly to WVU students but am not trying to find ways to promote the course to other students as well.

The course runs 8 weeks starting in mid-May. You work on your own (with a lot of help from me) and take a unit test at the end of each week. So it's self-paced during the week regarding when you work on your own, but you have to be ready to take the test at the end of the week.

This course is face-to-face course offered each Spring semester, but I was asked to develop an online version to give students more options.

It seems like there is not a confirmation of the cheapest human physiology class. I'm trying to take a human physiology this summer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The cheapest I found is UC berkeley, so I took that. I am currently enrolled in it. It's not difficult, but it is more time consuming than I expected. There are 8 units of 2-4 chapters each. You have to fill out a worksheet, write an essay, and do a short little research report on each unit. Like I said, it's really not hard and easy to get an A on them, but it does take a lot of time. I am however a little worried about the final because there is so much material and it is the only proctored exam.

hp128 - Where are you applying? I'm trying to figure out if UC Davis will accept courses from UC Berkeley Extension as a "Four-Year University".

I'm enrolled for ANS 314 ... need to confirm that UC Davis will take this course as well.

Just an update for anyone interested - I contacted Davis' admissions and they said that the emphasis for the physiology pre-req is a HUMAN physiology course. They said Berkeley's X109 course is the best one to take to fill that requirement.

They couldn't say anything about the Oregon State course until they saw the syllabus but I'd rather just take the Berkeley course, so I didn't follow up with that.

For anyone who has taken Oregon State's online course ANS 314, what did you think of it? How was it structured?

Are there any other online courses that you know of that satisfy Davis' physiology requirement?

Thanks!

As far as I know Berkley online's XB W32 course satisfies this requirement. I just finished it in Fall and found it a decent self-paced course. Very expensive though, $795 plus book ($80 on amazon)

Just so everyone is aware, I contacted Davis and they said XBW32 at Berkeley does NOT satisfy the physiology requirement because it is a lower division course.

Has anyone taken the Human Physiology course offered by UNE online? I am curious how the course went/details. Thank you.

I've not taken that course but I know oakland university jn Michigan had online phys last year. Check it out!
