So is Walgreens going to buy Rite Aid?

I don't think the feds will allow either Walgreens or CVS to buy RAD. They will split it up like when Eckerds went away. Half to CVS and 1/2 to Rite Aid. If they were to choose one, I think it would be Walgreens as CVS is already the dominant player where Rite Aid is still standing.
CVS sent us a letter asking us to consider selling our store to them...we laughed...

No. We've only been opened 11 months and I am not ready to go back to work for a chain....Ever....I mean Never...No amount of money can make me go back to CVS...We laughed at the letter...

Congrats on going independent. It definitely makes pharmacists stronger to know there's still independents out there and pharmacists in control of their own destinies regardless of where u are in the profession.
No, No amount of Money would ever make me sell to CVS. I would sell to anyone wanting to take over the business and continue the business, but just not CVS. Apparently the pharmacy supervisor we had at CVS had to call corporate to let them know that they would not be visiting us for an acquisition visit cause she knew we would never sell...They know we despise the company and that will never change.

2 million is not enough...for the initial investment, the time, the effort and we do have techs that took the plunge with us...The techs we have will be taken care of no matter what....CVS would need to come up with a huge number for us to even consider...2 million? no, sorry...we will never sell...

WOW. I heard somewhere that CVS offer 2 million to one independent that was very successful and the owner sold it b/c he was old and about to retire anyways. That's how I came up with 2 million! lol...
I wish you the best though! I hope your store gets tons of business and $$$! 🙂

Ya know if a few more pharmacists did this CVS is going to start having pharmacist sign no compete contracts.
What you did is smart. Put your time in CVS hell, save your money and build a customer base. Then go a block away and open your own pharmacy. Very smart....

What can you buy with $2M? A 4 bedroom house in very nice community coastal CA area... that's it -.-
$10M at least to make it a nice offer, just put money in stock market ~8% gain historically and withdraw 3% every year (~$300k) to take early retirement like a king...

let's get this back on topic. any links to rite aid getting bought out? i work for them and i haven't heard anything like this. the stock price plummeting again is disheartening though.
Do you have a vested interest in the direction of RAD or are you just a concerned employee?

God, California is such a dunghole. Why do people there put up with those obscene real estate prices? Even some middle of nowhere desert exurb go for half a mil in CA.

Some things really do not have a price on them. Asking a man to compromise his beliefs for $2M ($1M in reality as he has a partner) is not enough. It's like the man that fights a $50 citation and spends thousands of dollars in the process because of the principal.

There's no way Walgreens, or anyone else, would buy out Rite-Aid. Someone may pay for their patient records, but no one would be willing to assume all of that debt.
