All I can say is I'm glad to be done. I studied while working part time and feel like I have put my life on hold for this test. I have been studying since the end of spring semester and am glad I can finally put my mind at ease for a while. Anyway, here are my scores and breakdown:
***Scores***
PA: 29 (99.9%)😍
QR: 20 (95.1%)
RC: 23 (96.1%)
BIO: 24 (99.6%)
GC: 25 (98.9%)
OC: 25 (98.4%)
TS: 25 (99.9%)😀
AA: 23 (99.7%)
Breakdown
PAT: I bought CDP 10 version set even though I only used about 7 of them. I honestly did not see this one coming. I was getting 22s on CDP with my highest score being a 25. I believe I may have been either better prepaired than I thought or got lucky...
In any case, I felt like all sections of the PAT on the actual DAT were easier than CDP and felt like CDP nonetheless prepared me well for this section (like so many have said before me).
BIO: I used Kaplan DAT book as well as George Wolfe videos to prepare me for this section. Although the George Wolfe videos can be time consuming, I felt like he explains the material in a sufficiently thorough and yet easy to understand manner. Additionally, I was surprised by the amount of bio material on the actual exam not covered in the Kaplan DAT book, and am glad I didn't rely on it alone. I think using Kaplan as a foundation and the George Wolfe videos to explain anything still not understood prepared me well here.
GC and OC: I felt like the Kaplan DAT book was sufficient here alone. All the questions on the actual DAT in these sections were fairly basic and almost all (except maybe 1 or 2 Qs) could be answered from the material in this book alone. On a side note, I was a little surprised to not see any laboratory procedures or spectroscopy on my version of the test in these sections.
RC: I was scoring an average of 20 on the practice exams in this section. Luckily, I found the passages on the actual DAT fairly interesting. I read the passage, and then answered the questions going back where necessary. I found that as long as you timed yourself well this was a good strategy. Just don't spend too much time on a single passage and do your best to concentrate on what you read so you can remember it well after.
QR: I spent a lot of time memorizing unit conversions, volume formulas, and area formulas here. Unfortunately, I found all that work, except maybe memorizing temp conversions, to be of no use here. Definitely know probabilities, trigonometry, etc. Unfortunately, I don't have too much advice for what tools to use to study this section because I spent the least time studying for it out of all of the sections. I guess it shows...
Anyways, I have a 3.9 gpa and am applying to 10 schools this year.
This is my first post. I have read several helpful breakdowns here and so I thought I would add a breakdown of my own. Good Luck to everyone out there and enjoy the rest of summer!
