I almost don't want to post this, for fear that it was some sort of mistake!!! But after (literally) years of rejection (granted from just one school, for those of you who have not been following my saga), to get my first vet school interview invite ever feels pretty awesome! I know it is just an interview, but I can't stop grinning!😀

I wasn't even starting to obsessively check my e-mail yet (I had that penciled in for late next week). Can't wait to see more interviews pop up here!

and for people who haven't heard yet...hold tight! remember to breath!! because majority of invites come AFTER december!! so remember not to panic when you see people getting invites before dec 🙂

Grats! Manhattan is a nice town and if you fly in at KC, MO with Southwest and drive, you can save a buck or two. It's a nice drive too and only about an hour or so. There's a Motel 6 in town that's pretty cheap but they charge extra for their wifi (I think it was like $5 or so per night).

Good luck with the interview! They're pretty nice folks up there.


For everyone: check http://slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?sduid=0&f=9 periodically (like, every two days or so) for deals on airfare and car rental. I got some pretty good deals last year with them, such as free Hertz Gold membership for a year, which saved me some money and got me a nicer car.

Thanks! I'm OOS and didn't expect to hear anything so soon. Interview dates are in the middle of December (Dec 10, 11, 13-18).

OMG OMG OMG OMG. LOL That just gave me a HUGE heart attack, and the anxiety that subsided towards the middle of last month has started back up again full force. I wasn't expecting having to panic for another week! Eeeee! I'll be checking my email ENDLESSLY now.
 
YAYYYYY for Ohio State!!! I'm actually a student ambassador for the interviews on the 11th and 13th (just saying, obvi the best days to go).But CONGRATS! As an out of stater I can say I really really love it here.

Thrilled for the interview, but the timing is lousy. Finals week. Gonna try for Friday, Dec 17th. I'm hoping someone from SDN can show me around C-Bus sometime that weekend. Hoping to bug EllieG about it but, girl, I'd feel like a schmuck asking you if you don't get an interview.

I'm rootin' for you, EG! Not so you can be my tour guide (I'm not that shallow!), but b/c I know how badly you want to get in there.

My email says I'm being considered for the class of 2014. Gosh, I hope I can catch up! 😛

I promised myself that I wouldn't freak out if schools I applied to started sending out interview invites and I didn't get one, but that is easier said than done! I know they come in waves, but...

Well a nicer heater is always worth it in such frigid environs (pretty sure I got a mild case of frost bite in Iowa...IN my car) and the heavier weight probably makes it less likely to skid in the middle of traffic (another thing I did in Iowa. I'm starting to see a pattern).

That's one thing I wish A&M was more involved with, but I don't reckon we get enough OOSers to really be too concerned about it.

Actually, most of the student ambassadors are IS students. I'm just hanging around a few extra days after finals so I'm not boarding my cat for 3 whole weeks, so I offered to do it to give some OOS perspective. But its SUPER fun sounding. You get tot alk to all the interviewees and their parents and give them all the info and give them the tour. SUPER pumped.

Right, I meant A&M having a day like OSU did in general where you have a tour, lunch, 'what to expect' and 'meet the dean' sessions and what not, but we don't get enough applicants (OOS or otherwise) to really bother with that I guess.
