I am currently in my second year doing a degree in Biology. I am trying to build up my volunteer work and clinical experience and what not, but I dont know where to go to have hands on clinical experience or research work? I've gone to hospitals and what not and the only thing they offer is passing out coffee to people. Any advice would be really appreicated!

Honestly, I've had similar clinical experience and at interviews I've spun it by saying I got to interact with patients, try to brighten their moods, see what life is like for them and their families during these difficult times, etc. Try asking your pre-health advisor to hook you up with some doctors who are receptive to having students shadow them. I spent a lot of time during my undergrad working with psychiatric patients, which is always interesting and made for good conversations at interviews.

Besides hospitals, you could look for clinical experience opportunities at a free, low-income, family-planning, or private clinic, hospice, VA, residential home, rehabilitation facility, nursing home, or as a first responder, among others.
