I need some insight.

I'm very interested in beauty related issue-solving. When people have an issue with nails, hair, skin, weightloss, etc, they come to me. I often refer to diet and use natural/whole-food based topical solutions or I do research on ingredients and suggest a product if there's not a sensible natural alternative.

I would like to turn this kind of vanity-doctor thing into a career. Is dermatology a good route for me? Or is there something similar (not esthetician) that I should look into?

your post is akin to nazi propaganda being posted in a holocaust survivor forum. it is astonishing to me that you are able to make it through the days of your life without being assaulted for your social ineptitude.

I challenge you to become a board certified MD/DO dermatologist. with all your resources and efforts, you will fail. guaranteed.

why not open an herb emporium and create your own line of salves fashioned from local shrubs?

The funniest and most appropriate thing you've ever written.

I think the OP is just completely clueless at this point, like most of us were at her stage.

Should inspire you to get your MD/PhD. I admire this person for being so publicly interested in cosmetics, ingredients, etc (and all the things you mentioned), blogging, getting a PhD, and ultimately applying for derm next year. She will probably succeed in matching.

I saw her blog and if you throw out the PhD (probably gets her accepted somewhere) do you think the blog helps or hurts her? She obviously has interest in the field but would academia reject her with all this interest in cosmetics? Likely a moot point as she has an amazing chance to match with a PhD.
