Well, I have to say I got pretty darn good rotations at UNE, but part of that was my own doing. Fourth year is all your own scheduling. I did some great rotations fourth year. Third year I learned a lot, and actually first assisted on many surgeries.
The increased class size. That depends if you're a go to class person or not. If not, then it doesn't matter. If so, then perhaps it might matter for a little while until those folks who figure out they don't go to class start not going. Then there will be plenty of room in class.
Match. I frankly don't pay attention to what specialty people tend to match to because that's VERY individual. People don't get "stuffed" into primary care - everyone in my class matched to the specialty they actually wanted. No one "settled" for something they weren't interested in. Interestingly enough, some folks who originally were so sure they wanted things like surgery, or EM, or urology, or OB totally changed their minds. 80% of my class changed their mind from first day of school to interview season.
I don't know what to tell you. Frankly, I didn't apply to either AZCOM or Touro. I have worked with people from both of those schools and they were quite good. I have said and will continue to say that medical education is what you make of it. You can get a good education anywhere. I don't know much about the rotation sites at AZCOM or Touro-CA.
That being said, there is HUGE upheaval at UNE that has been ongoing for at LEAST four years and will likely continue as long as Ripich is President of the University. Touro is expanding at an astronomical rate and the Touro Harlem site had some major issues a few years ago that were totally ignored by the main Touro administration. I've heard nothing about AZCOM's administration first hand so have nothing to contribute there.
If you're looking for a change from NJ, I'd go AZCOM. UNE will be too similar, CA slighty similar. AZ is the biggest change of scenery and climate you'll get from these three.
