SDN:

SuperDuperNeurotic

Thanks to PreMedOrDead for this jewel.

Heard back from 4 places, 3 interviews and one rejection 🙁. Checked the status page of a school and it says invited for interview but I haven't received an official email so hopefully 4 IIs lined up so far.

4 DO interviews, 3 MD interviews, 1 DO rejection, 6 MD rejections/voluntary pre-rejection withdrawals.

Only one interview so far (my state school), but I was complete ~Aug 8th, so I guess it hasn't been too long. Another 2 weeks without an II though will start making me VERY nervous...

One interview invite out of all the Texas schools so far. I'm feeling confident I should bring in at least a couple more.

One DO interview, One MD rejection and One on hold. I am a pretty late applicant coupled with weak Undergrad gpa and mcat. Not surprised. :scared:

Keeping my hopes up however less ideal the situation is. Hey, still got interviews last cycle as late as May and feb

25 MD schools

batting .500 with 4 rejections, 4 II's

Inb4 Tatortots with 10000 IIs 😉

FAP only pays for fourteen schools. Sure, the secondaries are mostly free but you still had to pay the extra $35 after the fourteen for AMCAS.

Free enough

Then I guess all those nights walkin the streets have finally payed off.

I don't intend to be rude, but why would you voluntarily withdraw at all? Worst-case scenario, you get rejected and you don't get in anyway.

Don't want to pay for the secondaries.

Completed at 9 schools so far with 4 interview invites.

41 schools. (yes. 41...haha I'm paranoid this cycle), 5 IIs, 2 rejections, 3 or so pre-interview holds

sadly no FAP for me 🙁 it's been an expensive summer

Not quite 10,000, that is a slight exaggeration =P
dear LORDDDDDDD. are you going to all of those?haha

are you going to MCW's 9/28 date? can I get your autograph?

3 MD and 8 DO interviews, 2 pre-secondary rejections from MD schools

Damn, just checked your MDApps... Nice. Just out of curiousity, could you give a short list of your ECs. I don't see how people pull off 40MCAT w/ 4.0 and have time to do anything else that keeps them sane.

20 schools 10 interview invites so far. And 3 rejections

8 IIs and 2 rejections out of 23 schools applied. Of the IIs, 2 are from "slight reach" schools, 4 from "match" schools, and 2 from "safety" schools. Both rejections have been from "slight reach" schools.

This is for you, Tots. 😉

Just "kinda?"

This thread isn't making me feel any better...

I agree for sure, but I think all of us lagging behind the SDNers with a million IIs still have hope.

First - schools offer interviews throughout the season, and especially those of us who were complete a little later will inevitably have our applications reviewed a little bit later.

Second - even people like TaterTots who become the darlings of the application cycle (an awesome place to be) *can only attend one medical school.* Schools need more people than just those people who got a 40 and a 4.0, because they must know that those people are interviewing at every single school out there and ultimately can only choose one. Those 40/4.0 people might get the first round of interview invites, then (especially those who submitted early), but those stats just are not the bottom line for going to med school.

Ok. This is what I've been comforting myself with lately and I hope it helps someone else out too. End rant.

Thanks for the encouragement. For some reason I thought this thread would be for people who haven't gotten many II's comforting others in similar situations, not a place for people to be bragging about their "10 invites already."

You thought a thread on SDN about personal successes wouldn't be about bragging?

Definitely true - this is a super skewed group. SDN as a whole is pretty darn skewed, and the group who's gonna come on here and post is gonna be the group of people who is proud enough of their number of IIs to make it public. Plus, those without many IIs could be scared off pretty quickly after seeing all these people talking about their 10 IIs.

Congrats everyone who has been getting IIs, and IrishFootball, we can do this! (insert football joke here?)

24 schools, 33/3.7, no II (submitted July)

don't let all the 10 II people freak you out its only sept

Sorry if I'm missing anything, but I don't really see any bragging in this thread. How you interpret the information that is being provided is another story. Of course there will be self-selection in that people who perceive themselves to be relatively successful thus far in the cycle are more willing to post, but is that bragging? I wouldn't say so.

I think whether or not a claim like "X number of interviews so far" constitutes bragging is largely dependent on the motives of the poster. And I don't see any reason not to assume these sorts of claims aren't at least partially driven by ulterior motives. This thread might not be filled with blatant bragging, but it's probably filled with implicit and subtle bragging.

Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with bragging... doing as well as most of the people that have posted in this thread is definitely something to be proud of.
